Kate Silverton in Bathing Suit is "So Blessed"
BBC newsreader Kate Silverton is opening up about her IVF journey via her social media. Silverton, 52, shared a reel of herself spending time on the beach with family, wearing a sunhat and bright striped bikini. "So blessed to have this time with my family. Short pit stop for my husband and he's now en route to Taiwan so we joined him for part of his journey with time spent together in Dubai. It has been precious indeed – now tucked up with the smalls back home and giving thanks. Trampoline and At-Home Workouts
Silverton took advantage of the pandemic lockdowns to really focus on her health. "I was either going to put on two-and-a-half stone [35 pounds] during lockdown or lose it, and I've lost it," she says. "It was a conscious decision and I knew I had to focus. I bought myself a racer bike, a trampoline and some Tracy Anderson DVDs."
Professional Nutritionist
Silverton enlisted the help of a professional nutritionist to lose weight and get fit. "I got a good nutritionist. I have been eating at specific times and trying to get more sleep," she says. "I feel so much better in myself. I'm feeling as fit and well as I possibly can at this time of my life."
Walking For Self-Care
Silverton loves being outdoors, particularly swimming, cycling, and walking. "Walking has become my new heaven," she says. "We've got a puppy and I walk him for an hour every day. It's just me and the dog in the woods, and that's my time."
Adventurous Vacations
Silverton loves going on adventure holidays with the family. "We've been very lucky to go to amazing places including Mustique in the Caribbean, and had incredible times," she says. "But in Somerset, when we were sat on a bench eating sausage sandwiches with the sun high in the sky, the children said, 'This is better than Mustique'. They were in their element rolling down hills and constantly being in the fresh air. My son Wilbur loved it because he didn't have to change his pants for the whole week!"
Helping Others
Silverton volunteers her time to help others, which research shows is beneficial towards mental health and happiness. "I've started counseling in a London primary school – on placement, I should stress," she says. "I have my own clients and I report to a supervisor at the end of the day. I'm absolutely loving it. That's my joy at the moment. It's an extraordinary privilege to be doing that. I feel very focused and fired."
