She Hydrates
Gia stays hydrated, drinking water and even out of coconuts. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues, says the Mayo Clinic. How much water should you aim for? The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine says men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids.
She Rides Bikes
Gia loves riding bikes. The Cleveland Clinic explains that cycling, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.
She Drinks Coffee
Gia has a theory that a "cup 'a joe a day keeps the doc away, right?" she revealed in a post. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation."It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times and mental function," they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.
She Hikes
Take a hike, says Gia. "Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between," says the National Parks Service. Some of the physical benefits include building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance, improving your heart health, and decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems. It also offers many mental health benefits, according to a Stanford University study.
She Indulges
Gia eats healthy – most of the time. When she does indulge she has a few guilty pleasures, including pizza, pasta ("eat pasta run fasta," she captioned a post), and donuts. Be mindful of your overall calorie intake: Weight loss ultimately comes down to consuming fewer calories than your body needs. While pasta can be calorie-dense, it's important to focus on your overall diet and calorie balance. Consider reducing your calorie intake by making healthier choices in other meals and snacks.
