Kate Hudson is 45 and in phenomenal shape. It should come as no surprise that she was the face of athleisure brand Fabletics; her toned body is the perfect exercise aspiration. But what are her go-to fitness tips?

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress is busier than ever these days. Between releasing her debut album Glorious in 2024, starring in the Netflix series Running Point, and being a mom to her three children—Ryder Robinson, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, and Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa—it's a wonder Hudson finds time to fit in a workout.

Let's take a closer look at the exercise and wellness habits Kate Hudson swears by in her 40s.

She Does Pilates

Kate first got into Pilates when she was 19—and she hasn't looked back since.

"It's the workout my body really responds to, " she told Shape, per People. "It's all about alignment, elongating your spine, and strengthening your core. It makes me feel my strongest. Pilates is always challenging. The advanced moves are amazing, but so hard."

Through the years, Hudson has shared many Pilates workout videos on social media, proving her lasting dedication to the exercise.

She Strength Trains

In 2024, Kate spoke with TODAY.com about what prompted her to incorporate more strength training into her fitness routine.

"One day, I tuned in and I was like … I don't feel strong, I feel long and I love my Pilates but as I get older… am I doing enough (strength) exercises?" she told the outlet.

She and personal trainer Brian Nguyen now include a variety of strength-training exercises, including lunges, bodyweight squats, planks and hip and glute bridges.

"She used to think she couldn't do it, but now that we're implementing heavier loads, we're having fun pushing past the edge of chaos," Brian told Shape. "Kate's not afraid of heavy weights—the weight needs to be heavy enough where her integrity does fall and she has to regain that control. I don't think we do anything so special, but mastering the basics allows her to play with speed, a heavier load, and instability."

She Prioritizes Lean Protein

For Kate, another key to her toned physique is prioritizing lean protein in addition to whole plant-based foods.

"Food is everything," the actress told TODAY.com. "The food we eat is fuel for our body. We, especially women, should really be eating more protein, especially in the morning,"

Still, the actress has said she's not an "extremist" when it comes to nutrition.

"I love food. And I love a good cocktail," she told PEOPLE in 2021. "For me, it's really about everything in moderation; I stay mindful of what I put in my body and remember that it's OK to enjoy yourself."

She Gives Herself Grace

One of Kate's biggest pieces of fitness advice is to "connect to where you're at and honor it," she told E! Online in 2024.

For the busy mom and her personal trainer, this means not putting too much pressure on yourself but still making time for your goals even when life throws you curveballs.

"To meet yourself where you're at is a huge piece," Brian explained. "Whether it is children that get in the way of your fitness goals, whether it's, 'Oh, you know what? I'm going to do that later because I've got to work, work, work,' at some point in time, no matter who we are, if we do won't take the time to actually give some of that love or some of that attention back to yourself, we're going to continue to go down this spiral of whatever it is that we're feeling all around. It's an energetic thing."
