Jessica Simpson Reveals the Daily Habits Behind Her Fitness Transformation

Singer and actress Jessica Simpson has shown through her career that weight shifts can have an impact on her mental health. She’s been open about how the body can fluctuate as you go through life, but health and wellness has still remained a focus. Here are five habits she stands by to keep her body healthy and strong.
She walks

Jessica believes that being more active doesn’t need to necessarily mean that it has to be a grueling workout. Walking is one of her favorite ways to stay in shape. “I have been doing a lot of walking — getting my steps in not only burns calories but it also helps me clear my head and get focused,” she said.
She does full body workouts

Walking is important to Jessica, but she also factors in full body workouts. “We slowly ramped those up; we started really easy and slowly increased them. We started with doing a full-body workout, one set of each exercise, not really doing too much intensity per body part and gradually increasing the volume and intensity. Focusing on a few muscle groups per day. Different muscles each day of the week,” her trainer, Pasternak said to E! News.

She sees experiencing every size as a blessing. Due to medications, alcohol consumption, and hormonal changes (according to an interview she did with Bustle), her weight has fluctuated through the years. “I am fortunate to have been every size,” she said. “For [my] brand, understanding the women [who buy our products], and for my psyche.”
She works with a trainer

In Jessica’s book, “Open Book,” she said that she used to rely on diet pills to drop weight quickly, but she’s not interested in the quick fix anymore. According to her personal trainer Harley Pasternak, there are long-term goals in mind. “It had to be more than just getting back from her baby weight, but how do I keep whatever I am doing now forever. That’s why we are not a big fan of doing any extreme diet or radical forms of exercise,” he said.
She focuses on eating healthy

Her trainer worked with her to create a good meal plan that felt obtainable. “It’s three meals and two snacks a day, and each meal has protein, fiber and fat, and snacks are protein and fiber or protein and fat,” Pasternak said to People. “She’ll have foods that are very (flavorful) that are healthier versions of things like a tortilla soup or Tex-Mex. And if she has a birthday party one night and a date night another night, she’s going to indulge both of those nights, but that’s it. It’s about balancing in a way that doesn’t make it painful or too much of a departure from your life before that.”
