Alexis loves to dance. “Ballet has been so many things for me. It’s been heaven and an escape. Hell and a prison. Through hours of pouring sweat and soul onto the dance floor, I have found a work ethic and a determination I wouldn’t trade for the world. The ability to look resistance square in the eyes and keep going. Yet, I’ve also pushed myself over the edge striving for perfection,” she wrote. “If any of you are asking yourselves where your spark for life went- ask: have I abandoned parts of myself? Go backwards. Sometimes, (most of the time) our evolution comes from peeling back the layers that were never meant to be there. Remembering who you were is how you continue to build your legacy, staying forever faithful to your spark. Our childhood dreams become our adult passions.”

2. Tennis

Alexis loves playing tennis, a cardio-meets-aerobic workout, according to ACE Fitness. "While tennis provides numerous health benefits—improved aerobic fitness and anaerobic endurance, muscular fitness (grip strength and endurance), flexibility, multiple skill parameters (balance, speed, agility and quickness), reactivity, and power—it also is psychologically demanding," they say.

Alexis prioritizes her mental health and self-care. “In the mornings, I journal,” Alexis told Grazia. “I think journaling is one of the most important things to build into your morning routine. Journaling is an important tool because the days and years pass by so quickly, but journaling stays forever. Looking back, you get to see yourself grow in your writing. When I look back on my journals from even five years ago, it makes me proud to see how much I’ve grown and evolved.”

4. Sleep

Alexis makes sure to get plenty of sleep. “My bedtime varies, although lately, it’s been around 11:30 pm,” she told Grazia. “The time I wake up varies by the day, but if I have a few days off, I try to let myself sleep in (which means 9 am latest). I like to listen to my body and tune in to what it’s telling me, even if that means waking up at 6 am daily, or 9 am from time to time. As of lately, I feel more creative towards the evening, so I have been staying up a little later to work on projects and brainstorm.”

5. Surfing

“I love surfing,” Alexis told Grazia about one of her favorite outdoor workouts. She captioned a recent post of herself on the water, “Lots and lots of practice.” According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.

It's really just about consistency and making sure that when I wash my face, it's 100%. If I have to, I'll wash my face twice. That's what I think really took my skin to the next level: when I realized how hard it is to get everything off. It's more of training your skin or body to be on a certain regimen.”

2. She Uses Two Skin Cleansers

Ren shared her favorite skincare products with Glamour. She says that she uses two cleansers. “One of them is the Sensi Wash by Sonya Dakar, and the other one is the Blueberry Rebalancing 5.5 Cleanser from Innisfree. The Sensi wash is made with oat milk, so it has this milky feel. That doesn't actually get the makeup off; it just cleanses my face. If I have makeup on, I use something soapy that's going to get rid of everything and that's the Innisfree.”

3. She Uses Two Serums

Ren tells Glamour that she also uses two serums on her face. “I just started implementing the Sonya Dakar Super Clear as a base. It's a preventative thing for breakouts, and I use it every day. Then I use the vitamin C serum with hyaluronic and vitamin C, which I've learned is important. I kind of pat it on as opposed to rub it in, because it peels away, which is kind of weird.”

4. She Works Out In The Mornings

When it comes to fitness, Ren likes to get it done right away. “Starting my day off with a workout helps me to be my most productive self,” she said to Grazia. “I have been a ballerina for 20 years, so ballet is my first love when it comes to movement. I also love long walks and hikes, yoga, and surfing. For me, when I can move through an activity that I love, I enjoy the time spent doing it rather than it feeling like something I need to check off of my to-do list.”

5. She Goes Outside

Ren shared her daily routine with Grazia. She says that she loves to spend time outside. “I was born and raised in Santa Monica, CA and because of that, I have always loved going to the beach. I love surfing, picnics on the beach; you name it. I love bringing my dog to the beach and letting her play in the sand, and say hello to everyone that passes by. I enjoy the simple things! Give me a journal, a picnic, my puppy, and a bikini, and I am content.”

Alexis took Women’s Health into her fridge and revealed it’s 98% vegan. “Just eating more plant-based foods overall is a huge leap in the right direction. So if being a vegan feels overwhelming, consider starting with a goal of eating more plant-based foods,” dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, tells the Cleveland Clinic. Here are some of Alexis’ ideas:

  • “What I love to do with broccoli is I love to saute it with coconut amino acids.”
  • “I love fruit so much. It keeps me happy.”
  • “Almond butter for smoothies. I make sure that there's no sodium in it because we have a tendency to put a lot of salt in it.”
  • “The milks that I like are usually macadamia milk or oat milk. They're great with my favorite snack in the world,” which is Catalina Crunch.
  • “For more protein oriented things, I would say I'm 98% vegan. So for my proteins, I love beans, garbanzo beans. I love tempeh.”

She and her God sister, “We love just making things from scratch,” she told Women’s Health. “I think, coming from a background of having an eating disorder, I just think it's so important that we make our food with love and you know what’s in it. So that's when I started actually cooking for myself, was when I realized how much better I felt when I knew what was going into my body. And also that I put so much love into it. Because so much of the time, you'll order something and everyone's in such a rush all the time that it just doesn't have the kind of quality and energetic balance that it needs. And since I'm very sensitive, I can usually feel that. So I love, love, love eating at home.”

Alexis shared a video of her abs workout and it’s intense, a deceivingly short 10 minus that’ll make you burn. Included are sit ups, knee touch crunches, heel crunches, bicycle crunches, reach through crunches, tow tap legs lifts and more. Here’s a core exercise from personal trainer Mark Langowski that you can do at home:

“Alternating Forward lunge with medicine ball core rotation. Men use a 10-20lb med ball. Women use 4-10lb med ball.

Stand with your toes facing forward and your feet about a foot apart. Hold a medicine ball in front of your belly with both hands, arms extended. Inhale and step your right foot out approximately three feet in front of your body (depending on your height). Your front knee should be bent at a 90-degree angle, with your foot directly under your knee. As your front foot hits the floor, rotate your torso to the right and reach the medicine ball out over your right leg. Now twist back to center as you use the muscles of your leg and core to push yourself back up to the starting position. Repeat with the left leg. Total of 20 reps. (10 each side)”

Alexis always stretches, starting with “relaxing our necks and stretching them out, listening to those micro muscles.” Sometimes you wanna go deep and painful and sometimes you “want to acknowledge these tiny little micro muscles—we take them for granted.” “It's helpful to include stretching in your exercise regimen. Stretching can increase flexibility and improve your joints' range of motion, helping you move more freely. And ensuring that you have equal flexibility on both sides might help protect you from injury,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Before stretching, warm up with 5 to 10 minutes of light activity. Better yet, stretch after a workout. Keep stretches gentle and slow. Don't bounce. Breathe through your stretches. If you feel pain, you've stretched too far. Hold a stretch for about 30 seconds, to the point of a slight pull, on each side. Repeat the stretch on both sides 2 to 4 times. Stretching is recommended 2 to 3 days a week.”

My teacher used to say that if you can breathe, you can do yoga. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!!
