Flavia Saraiva is doing the splits – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the Brazilian gymnast shows off her amazing body and next-level gymnastic skills, wowwing her followers. “Look at her all beautiful! 💛,” commented one. “The most beautiful smile I have ever seen 😍,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
1. Gymnastics
Gymnastics is Flavia’s main workout. According to Pinnacle Gymnastics, there are physical and mental benefits of gymnastics. Physical benefits include flexibility, balance, and muscular strength. “These skills improve bone health and delay the development of high blood pressure,” they say.
2. Cold Plunge
Flavia takes advantage of the benefits of cold plunging, aka ice baths. There is limited research supporting the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increased focus, improved sleep, and decreased inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes basic post-sport recovery.
3. Hiking
Flavia is also a hiker. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:
- Building stronger muscles and bones
- Improving your sense of balance
- Improving your heart health
- Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
4. Stretching
In her recent video, Flavia does a lot of stretching. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”
5. Hydration
During her recent video Flavia also chugs water. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.
