Brie Larson in Workout Gear is in "My Wholesome Homebody Era"

Brie Larson is an extremely successful actress. She first came into prominence with the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Larson received acclaim for her role in Room, which earned her an Oscar. She is currently playing Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Larson shared a new set of photos on Instagram this week. In them, she cooked and wore workout gear. She captioned the post, "In my wholesome homebody era." How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Brie Larson stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1

She Ate Bridge Meals

Larson worked with Dr. Phillip Goglia to help her eat better. In an interview with People, Dr. Goglia revealed that he had Larson eat bridge meals. "You're using fat metabolism and that will be your bridge meal to get to dinner so that dinner is an appetite environment that will not allow you to crave carbs because you've already eaten … you're kind of full. You're not in low blood sugar."

She Worked With A Trainer

Larson worked with trainer, Jason Walsh, to help her prep for her Marvel projects. "When she got back from Avengers, it was game on," Walsh said to Men's Journal. "We got deep into heavy progression, doing two-a-days, four days a week, sometimes five days a week unless Brie was feeling destroyed. She did the work—nutrition, recovery, sleep—everything required of her. The whole process took nine months of training, and we focused in on a number of key moves, including hip thrusts, which was a staple of our workouts."

She Circuit Trained

Walsh told Men's Journal that he did circuit training with Larson. "We'd go from mobility into activation work, which we considered a warmup, then into the primary strength exercises," Walsh says. "That could be a squat aspect, bilateral exercises, unilateral moves, hip-hinge work, and a lot of hip thrusting and posterior chain work to fire up and support the spine. Then we'd do circuits of secondary exercises—basically everything other than those primary moves—and make sure her joints were supported and muscles were activated throughout the workout."

She Scuba Dives

In an essay for Allure, Larson talked about her life, career, and what she's picked up. "I started scuba diving, and that became a whole new revelation as to how I get in and out of characters. You can't just dive into the ocean. You have to have a plan. You have to understand the process of going down and then the process of coming back up, and you have to allow air for that.

She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Larson shared her skincare secrets with Allure. "To wash my face, I might use coconut or olive oil. When I used to travel and do pressers and things and I didn't want to bring tons of products, I would just ask the hotel for olive oil. Oil my face, hot towel. [I found out about cosmetics brand] Decorté over a year ago when they just sent products and asked me to try them out. I really liked them, and it seemed that we both liked each other, and so they asked me to come on board and be this 'brand muse,' which is surreal for me. I just never thought that I would be the face of a beauty brand."
