Christie Brinkley is one of the most legendary supermodels of all time. Her career has spanned decades. Brinkley is still looking amazing today, and recently celebrated her 70th birthday. She shared a set of photos on Instagram for the occasion. Brinkley captioned the post, “Looking in the mirror on my 70th Birthday and what do I see, I’m finally happy with the person looking back back at me. I’m no longer critical and demanding now I’m grateful and understanding. I’ve put this body thru it. I’ve broken every bone, in tiny miracles I’m all healed, in my heart and soul I’m home. It’s taken 70 years to get here, in tears and joy I’ve found my happy, so now I’m going to end this poem, before I get too sappy! Happy Birthday Indeed!” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Christie Brinkley stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Does Things That Build Her Confidence

Brinkley is open about having work done. She talked about why she chose to have it done to People. “When I look in the mirror, I want to feel like I look as good as I feel. And if you can have something done to feel more confident and better about yourself, then you feel like your face matches your spirit—and my spirit is enthusiastic and energetic."

2. She Ignores The Haters

Brinkley tells People that she doesn’t care what people think about her. Especially when it comes to the people who critique her plastic surgery. "There are always going to be the people who build themselves up by pulling you down. But then there are the women who are supporting women. And if there are little things that I can do that are going to make me feel great, make me look good for my job and that would be selfish of me not to share it.”

3. She Exfoliates Her Skin

Brinkley has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it. She shared her secrets in an interview with Byrdie. “I start every day by exfoliating my face. That’s something I’ve done for the past 40 years. I feel like it’s really contributed to my skin feeling fresh and smooth. Forty years ago, I read an article that said men always look five years younger than women who are their same age. They contributed that to them shaving every day, and the daily exfoliating with shaving their skin makes them look younger. I was like, I’m not going to let them get away with that!”

4. She Eats A Lot Of Produce

Brinkley is open about being a vegetarian. She tells Byrdie that she eats a lot of fruits and vegetables. “My diet is plant-based. I’ve raised my kids on what I call the ‘rainbow diet.’ I want as many colors as possible. These are all the ingredients that do wonderful things to your skin. The deep green, the leafy greens, the purples in the skin of the grapes, which produce all the antioxidants and vitamins you get from a colorful, rich diet like that.”

5. She Eats Healthy

Brinkley makes sure to eat healthy. She tells Byrdie that she avoids certain unhealthy foods. “I would say avoid sugar as much as possible. It causes inflammation...And can cause all kinds of problems... I think avoiding artificial sugar, avoiding white bread, and going for deep, rich, plant-based foods is best.”

Christie Brinkley is showing off her forever young figure – in her swimsuit. In a recent social media post the 1980s icon looks incredible in a white bathing suit as she poses in the crystal clear ocean while vacationing at Lucky House Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos. “Water, Sky, Seashells and Driftwood ..a few of my favorite things,” she captioned the set of Instagram snaps. How does the 69-year-old manage to look half her age? Celebewell rounded up her top lifestyle habits.

1. Moving All the Time

Christie has a theory: If you stay moving, you will constantly burn calories. “Don't stop moving because you'll rust. You have to grease the joints and keep moving," she told The Cut. "As long as I do that I feel great. If you start to hold still, they'll start acting up." She manages to squeeze exercise into daily activities. "While I'm brushing my teeth, I'm doing leg lifts. When I'm drying my hair, I do all kinds of squats,” she added.

2. Eating Big Meals in the Morning

Christie.Brinkley.BreakfastChristie Brinkley/Instagram

Christie eats heavier earlier in the day. "A lot of mornings lately I will take a bowl and I throw some oatmeal right into it," she told Shape. "I rarely have time to cook it so I just eat it raw. Then I'll pour some flax seed on top of that and maybe a little wheat germ, then I'll grab a couple of handfuls of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and rinse them off, toss them in and then I pour one of those Dannon things on top and stir it up. I always describe it…it's like a really moist juicy muffin. It is so good. I feel like it is giving you a lot of good things. You can also throw a handful of walnuts in there."

3. Plant-Focused Diet

"I haven't touched a piece of meat since I read a graphic description of Chicago's slaughterhouses when I was 12," Christie told Harper's Bazaar about her almost entirely vegan diet. "I call myself a flexible vegan because, you know, Italy exists. Mozzarella and pasta exist. In France, I may have to have a piece of Camembert, you know. Un petit sandwich au fromage,” she added to The Cut.

4. Rainbow Diet

Christie.Brinkley.RainbowChristie Brinkley/Instagram

Like Christina Aguilera, Christie is a fan of the rainbow diet. "For lunch, I go into greens and do a salad, then add a protein like a bean or nuts," she explained to The Cut. "For many, many, many years, I've always said go for as many colors as possible in a day. That's my main concept for making sure my kids get all the nutrients—making sure the deep greens, yellows and reds and purples, all of that."

5. Warm Water with Lemon

warm, water, lemonShutterstock

Christie starts every day “with warm water and lemons. It's something I picked up on my Instagram," she told The Cut. "Some days I alter it, and I get fancy and I put a little bit of mānuka honey on the rim of the glass, turn it upside down, and dump it in red cayenne pepper. Then I put the lemon juice in and then the hot water. That's when I have a little time. I figure that the pepper gets my system all revved up, and the lemon water gets everything flowing through."

6. Outdoor Exercise

Christie is all about outdoor exercise, including cycling, paddleboarding, surfing, skiing, and swimming. "When I was doing Chicago, I noticed that the second you do any activity and you add your arms as though you're dancing, it revs you up. Whether it's walking down the beach and moving your arms like you're swimming, or picking up rocks and walking with them, you really start sweating and breathing heavily," she told The Cut.

7. Workout Buddies and Classes

Christie prefers working out with others over solo exercise. "Everyone asks if I really use the Total Gym, and I do! It's perfect for stretching and lengthening my body. Last summer I got into SoulCycle, and in the winter I do yoga at Yoga Shanti,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

50 is the new 30 – in Hollywood at least. These celebrities have been in the public eye for decades, but somehow manage to majorly delay the aging process. From taking care of their skin and undergoing the latest treatments to remaining dedicated to healthy eating and exercise, we have compiled the longevity secrets of some of the most high-profile stars who look sensational in their 50s.

1. Bethenny Frankel: She Doesn’t Diet

2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED - ArrivalsAxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Bethenny Frankel, 52, has one big dietary secret – she doesn’t diet. "I’m old enough to know that fat-free was a craze, low-carb, eat your weight in meat and cheese was a phase, keto is a fad, the Zone was a moment, and so on .... so yes, I eat carbs. I eat everything, but I don’t binge," the Real Housewives star dished to Good Housekeeping. "What I eat has no consistency. Today, it was an egg white vegetable omelet with a baked potato and a few french fries for lunch. Sometimes, it's arugula with tomato, avocado, and Parmesan. Pureed soups are a mainstay for me."

2. Jennifer Lopez: No Alcohol, Healthy Diet, and “Harder and Smarter” Workouts

"I'm in the best shape of my life," Jennifer Lopez, 53, told InStyle in 2021. The star attributes her ageless beauty to a healthy diet, lots of water, and zero alcohol. She has also been extremely devoted to exercise. "In my 20s and 30s I used to work out but not like I do now," she revealed. "It's not that I work out more; I just work out harder and smarter. And it doesn't take me as long as it did in the past. I do it more for my health than I do for looks, which is funny. When you do things for the right reasons, you actually look better!"

3. Paulina Porizkova: Gracefully Aging with Daily Exercise

Supermodel Paulina Porizkova, 58, believes in aging gracefully. And while she didn’t start exercising until she was 40, she now works out almost daily. “I try to exercise at least 3-5 days a week. And you know what? I ... hate it,” she said in one of her workout videos. “I don’t like to sweat and huff and puff and hurt. If sitting on a couch, eating cake, drinking wine and reading did the same for me as exercise, there would be no contest. BUT. I have come to find out that ‘working out’ is that perfect little pill everyone is looking for. It makes you feel good, look good, good for your brain and body - a small miracle that has to be paid of by a little discomfort.” Her favorite workouts include dancing, rowing, and pilates.

4. Kelly Ripa: “I Work Out Seven Days a Week”

Kelly Ripa, 52, never skips a workout "I work out seven days a week," she told In the Know. "And I try to workout an hour and a half a day, no matter what — whether I'm working or not. If I'm working, maybe I'll start it a little bit later or a little bit earlier, depending on what day of the week it is. But I am very religious about my fitness." She also avoids alcohol and maintains a super clean alkaline diet.

5. Jennifer Aniston: She Switches Up Her Workouts

Los Angeles Premiere Of Netflix's "Murder Mystery 2" - ArrivalsAxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Jennifer Aniston, 54, recently revealed to Bustle that she toned down her super-aggressive “feel the burn” approach to exercise. “I work out about three to four times a week, which is basically all your body really needs. I’ll do Pvolve, and then to switch it up, sometimes I’ll do Pilates, or sometimes I’ll take a hike,” she said. She also focuses on recovery. I love an infrared sauna or an Epsom salt bath. Those are two really good for drawing that lactic acid out, and I’ll even use my hands or a little gua sha on my legs for the same purpose.”

6. Jennifer Garner: Daily Cardio Sessions

On Jennifer Garner’s 51st birthday earlier this year she appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show and revealed her secret to longevity. “What I do in the morning is I work out,” Garner said. “You’ve gotta do hard cardio to get that—to get yourself—I’m sorry, you do,” she said. “We need it in our bodies, but we need it in our brains. Your brain needs it!” she exclaimed. “You find something that actually makes you feel joyful while you’re doing it or it won’t work.”

7. Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara, 50, regularly jokes that she isn’t a fan of exercise. However, as she has gotten older she has incorporated weights into her routine. “The one thing that I have done that really has made a difference in my body is lifting weights. Not crazy weights. But, you know, like five pounds, seven pounds, 10 pounds. Twelve pounds is the maximum I can do. It keeps your muscles tight, and your skin tighter to you,” she explained to Health. “I’ve done Pilates and spinning, and I’ve tried all sorts of things—and they’re great.”

Call it the Benjamin Button effect or the Fountain of Youth, but supermodels over 50 show no signs of slowing down and giving up on their infamous physiques and enviable looks. With solid fitness and diet routines (not to mention a healthy dose of discipline and good habits), models like Christie Brinkley, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Helena Christensen are proof that staying fit after 50 is not only possible but absolutely the norm. Here are 10 supermodels that seem to be aging in reverse.

1. Naomi Campbell

2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Radhika Jones - ArrivalsJon Kopaloff/Getty Images

Naomi Campbell, 53, does yoga and Pilates every day, and follows a vegetarian diet. “I just became a vegetarian, and I find it a little hard to figure out what to eat, so I just bring stuff from home,” she says. “I went to this place where they teach you how to take care of your body and clean it inside and out. After that I decided I didn't want to eat pork, chicken, or anything I felt was unhealthy. I never thought I would ever do it. It was just something I decided to do. I don't know how long it's going to last, but I feel lighter and just easier.”

2. Paulina Porizkova

rag & bone Celebrates The Spring CampaignCraig Barritt/Getty Images

Paulina Porizkova, 58, admits staying in shape after menopause isn’t easy. “Staying in shape after menopause takes a lot of frickin' work. Especially when you have wonky hips,” she captioned an Instagram video. “I've had to cut down on my Pilates since I came back for the jungle shooting #beyondtheedge because my hips won't cooperate. What I'm doing instead, for now, is some serious PT. I found an amazing personal trainer at my local Crunch, Shelly, who alternates hip PT with strength training. But because I’ve been doing so much traveling, my results are inconsistent. So, yes, there are drawbacks to aging. One has to work a lot harder on things that were taken for granted. On the outside. On the inside, however, all the hard work already done is finally paying off.”

3. Christy Turlington

Christy Turlington, 54, swears by yoga sessions. “I practice yoga almost every day,” she says. “I kind of schedule my life around it to be honest. I don't want to treat it as something that I have to squeeze in. It’s really important, and so having it be the centerpiece of my day is how I try to approach it.”

4. Iman

Iman, 67, enjoys plenty of cardio exercises. “I try to work out every day,” she says. “A lot of walking, jogging, treadmill, jump rope. I have one bad knee, which I injured years and years ago, skiing. That's why I don't like running very much. And treadmills are so boring. Jump rope, if you do a good 10 minutes, it's a difficult cardiovascular workout. I started jump rope after I had my baby eight years ago and I could barely do three minutes. And I thought I was fit!”

5. Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford, 57, loves pole dancing classes and anything that gets her outdoors. "Once a week, I try to go on a hike with a friend so I combine exercise and girlfriend time—it's the best multitasking," she says. "I try to get 20 minutes of cardio at least three times a week. Then I do anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour of old school lunges, weights, squats, and bicep curls—it's just stuff that I learned 30 years ago."

6. Christie Brinkley

Christie Brinkley, 69, loves running. “As far as exercise goes, everyone always asks if I use the Total Gym and yes, I really do,” she says. “But I also might go to a spin class or work with weights. I would say running is my favorite way to sweat, but I’m not really supposed to do that anymore because of injuries… Some days the only thing I can get in is a seven-minute run on the Total Gym. Then while I’m brushing my teeth, I’m doing leg lifts. When I’m drying my hair, I do all kinds of squats.”

7. Helena Christensen

Helena Christensen, 54, loves to maintain strong muscle. “I do boxing and conditioning three times a week and yoga twice a week,” she says. “They keep my body strong, firm and toned. I started enjoying working out when I began to understand the anatomical aspect of it and learned how to recruit muscle groups. My favorite breakfast is porridge cooked with milk and topped off with banana, brown sugar and a big lump of melting butter in the middle.”

8. Kate Moss

Kate Moss is just six months shy of 50 and in the best shape of her life. “I reached a point in my life where I wanted more balance,” she says. “I started meditating and changing the way I live. I wanted to be healthier and more grounded. I'm a firm believer in taking a holistic approach to beauty which includes exercise, my diet and, of course, great products. I start the day with 20 minutes of meditation and follow it by practicing yoga poses or Pilates exercises. I enjoy the strength they give my body."

9. Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer, 52, loves staying active, especially if that means she gets to enjoy the fresh air. “I love going for long walks in the countryside with my dogs,” she says. “But, recently, I’ve started working out with my girlfriends, doing everything from cardio to yoga or tennis. Every day, we do something new, which makes it fun. I’ve also started doing online workouts and going on the treadmill while watching Gilmore Girls.”

10. Eva Herzigová

2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Radhika Jones - ArrivalsAmy Sussman/Getty Images

Eva Herzigová, 50, follows a vegetarian diet. “I mean, I’m very active, I have three boys, but with COVID, not moving much for such a long time, you lose your muscle mass,” she says. “I feel like I need to exercise, so we have a dog and I go for a bike ride in the park every morning. I’m not pushing it but already the idea of exercise makes me sweat because I haven’t done it for so long. I’m more an advocate of the philosophy that it’s all about what you eat. Food for me is an element of energy and a source of healing, and vice versa: food can be harmful.”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie Piper is embracing island life – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. (Sign ups are still open if you haven’t joined yet - there’s still time to catch up!! - link in bio). Soooo happy seeing so many of my girlies (and guys) in this challenge doing it with me!! And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”

She Loves Bananas

The Cleveland Clinic states that bananas have a lot of benefits. “A single medium-sized banana offers about 32 mg of the mineral magnesium, which fulfills around 8% to 10% of your daily magnesium requirement. Magnesium is involved in many processes in your body, including: Blood pressure. Blood sugar levels. Building proteins. Maintaining bone. Muscle function. Nerve function.”

She Loves Cottage Cheese

UCLA Health reports, “Cottage cheese’s protein content and low calories make it an ideal food for weight management. Research shows that whether you are trying to lose weight or reduce your risk of overweight or obesity, eating a high-protein diet can help you feel full and satisfied for longer.”
