As seen in movies like Bring It On, Bad Boys II, The Perfect Find, and 10 Things I Hate About You to name a few, the actress Gabrielle Union-Wade puts plenty of work into her career and her health and wellness. She’s looking incredible, giving her man a kiss as seen on Instagram captioned, “head in the clouds and i love it.” What does she do to stay so fit and healthy, keeping her body looking awesome? Here’s what we could find!
1. She stays hydrated
She prioritizes hydration. According to Elle and as seen on Today, she said "it’s something that everyone has access to and it not only helps with your beauty, it also helps with your fitness and digestion.” She continues to say that “the best tip I was given is to try to drink half of it by noon and then just casually drink the other half until 6:00 p.m., after then it gets a little tricky. I’m about to go work out (it’s 11:30 a.m.), so I know I’ll drink a good 32 ounces in the workout alone. Just try and do as much as you can early.”
2. If she’s hungry, she eats
When she’s hungry, she doesn’t deprive herself. “What good is it to be emaciated if your stomach’s always growling?” she said to Us Weekly. “That sucks. Have a burger!” She goes on to say “if I don’t feel like it, I don’t feel like it. I’m gonna have a margarita — I’m not gonna get the ‘skinny margarita,’ I’m gonna get the one with all the frickin’ calories. I’m gonna have a cheeseburger, I’m gonna have a pound of bacon, and then, maybe, the next day, I’ll try to pull it together. But I try not to be too crazy with it.”
3. She tries not to obsess
She tries not to be obsessive about her food intake. She said to Women's Health as seen in this article on Today, “I’m not obsessive about food, like, ‘Oh no, I ate badly, so I have to stay in the gym for two hours!’ At the end of the day, did I enjoy that meal? Hell, yes! Am I going to stress out about it? Hell, no! And, magically, the world doesn’t end because of what I ate.”
4. She enjoys boxing
She admits she’s not the biggest fan of exercise to Elle as seen in this article on Today, even mentioning torture. “But I like kickboxing because I can work out some aggression without judgement. Because you can’t go around hitting people, apparently they arrest you for that. A good boxing workout is the best stress, anxiety, and rage reliever there is, so I definitely look forward to that,” she said.
5. She likes to mix it up
She enjoys trying new workouts to keep the gym interesting. “As the workout phases come and go, I’ll try everything,” she said to Women's Health as seen in this article on Today. “Nothing, not one thing, has stuck. I’ve tried kickboxing, cardio barre, I’ve tried a SoulCycle class ... I’m not a class person.” According to the Cleveland Clinic and certified personal trainer Alena Beskur, CPT, “changing things up can give you some significant benefits.” Some of these benefits include, “[helping] your body adapt and improve, [preventing] boredom, and [working] different muscle groups.”
