Tennis pro Genie Bouchard got a chance to experience the fresh air and beautiful scenery in Aspen, Colorado. Bouchard, 29, shared a reel of herself wearing gray workout pants and a black jacket, hiking in the cold outdoors. “Aspen in fall,” she captioned the post. “The best,” commented boyfriend Jack Brinkley-Cook. Bouchard is just one of many tennis players making the jump to pickleball—here’s what her training looks like, and what’s next for the athlete.

1. Pro Pickleball

Pickle,Ball,Paddle,And,Pickle,Ball,On,Court,With,NetShutterstock

Bouchard is a member of the Professional Pickleball Association for the 2024 season, and admits to being nervous. "I'm like that kid going to a new school who goes to the cafeteria and doesn't have any friends or know where anything is," she told ESPN. "I'm completely nervous. I'm a wreck. I am nervous for playing, of course, because this is so new to me. But beyond that, I'm definitely anxious a little bit and wondering what it's going to be like walking around a tournament or a locker room… I have zero expectations at this point. I want to get my bearings. I want to just not embarrass myself, maybe that's a good goal, and just get the hang of things on court and off. I want to have fun, try my best and really just not be too hard on myself."

2. Learning To Play

Ever the perfectionist, Bouchard obsessed about her Pickleball form until she was told to relax. "I'm like, 'Is my form good? Is this good? Is that good?” she told ESPN. “What drill should we work on for this shot?' I was going overboard, and this guy was like, 'Whoa, you're so unnecessarily detail-oriented about this.' He literally told me to just go to a pickup game and just play and said that's how I was going to improve the most."

3. Weights before Dates

Bouchard lifts weights as part of her workout routine, and frequently posts pictures of her training on social media. “Weights before dates,” she captioned an Instagram picture of herself doing a strength training session at the gym. “When our bones are put under stress from the force of resistance training over a long period of time, they grow stronger and increase in density to withstand the extra load and force,” personal trainer Tom Mans tells The Independent. “Resistance training increases bone density and therefore decreases the chances of women and men developing osteoporosis later on in life.”

4. Eggs Every Day

Chicken,Eggs,In,Carton,Box,On,Wooden,Table.Shutterstock

Bouchard usually has eggs for breakfast. “Eggs are a good source of protein (both whites/yolk). They also contain heart-healthy unsaturated fats and are a great source of important nutrients, such as vitamin B6, B12 and vitamin D,” says Kurt Hong, MD, an internal medicine specialist at Keck Medicine of USC. “As with any food, the key here is consumption in moderation.”

5. Think Positive Thoughts

Bouchard is a firm believer in the power of positive thought. “I always try to remind myself that things can happen when you least expect them to,” she told SELF. “You just have to keep working hard and suddenly things will click. That’s the experience that I’ve had in my career. I trust that if I’m doing the right things and I’m on the right path, even if times are tough, eventually I’ll reach my goal.”

MMA fighter Aspen Ladd is ready to rumble—you can tell by counting the abs on her stomach. Ladd, 29, shared a picture of herself posing in red yoga pants and a purple shirt, showing off impressive abdominal muscles in preparation for her fight. “You can usually tell how close to a fight I am , based on how many abs I have 😂 the current answer is, ‘very close’,” she captioned the post. Here’s how Ladd stays strong, fit, focused, and ready for the ring.

1. Hiking With the Pups

Ladd loves to hike with her pups (and doesn’t mind doing some heavy lifting in the process). “We all need a little help sometimes 🙂 this is on today’s 11.5 mile hike. Kaia needs help to cross fast moving water like this ( she will be 14 this summer). It's a privilege to still have old girl as my adventure buddy and enjoying her wild self ❤️,” she captioned an Instagram post.

2. 5 Mile Runs In the Mountains

Ladd goes running in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with her dogs. “5 miles of running and a whole bunch of playing is good for the soul …especially on Thursday before evening training. Because Thursdays are ROUGH usually. Balance ⚖️,” she captioned an Instagram post.

3. Scrubbing Down the Mats

Ladd likes to cool down after training by cleaning the mat herself. “Rate our mat scrubbing skills,” she captioned a funny video. “This gym is a funk free zone 🙅‍♀️ it’s luck of the draw who scrubs them down after each practice ( usually the last ones in the gym) ….but I never mind and it’s a nice cool down after some real good sparring rounds tonight.”

4. Respect For Nature

Ladd is aware the mountains can be dangerous, always has her two German Shepherd dogs with her for protection when she’s hiking. “A beautiful 8 mile loop near my home. It’s always crazy to me when I see people out solo hiking or running. No dogs no other people, headphones in …just livin on hope 😂,” she captioned an Instagram post. “For example, just tonight in 8 miles my dogs alerted that there was some kind of predator near by on 5 separate occasions. Could be anything from a coyote to a bear 🐻 I never know until I find prints of scat . 2 weeks ago it was a cougar. How do I know it’s a predatory animal, you may ask? Easy , my dogs spend so much time out in the mountains with me that I know based on their different reactions.”

5. Recovery Workouts

Ladd switches up her training when to deal with injuries while still staying active. I tweaked my back pretty good at the end of last week, and it’s not quite up to chucking humans around yet 🤼‍♀️,” she captioned a video. “So my coach gave me a less body wrecking assignment to do tonight, and give the back one more day to recover.

Warm up / stretch for 1 mile

Then

Run 1 mile

Shadow box 5 minutes

Repeat ✖️3

Visualize opponents/ scenarios the whole time and practice what we’ve been drilling. It’s a great low stress workout for anyone wanting to try 🙂.”

1. She Led An Outdoor Fitness Session For Charity

Hunziker likes to share her workouts with her fans, and she once led an outdoor workout session in 2018. This event wasn’t just a way for Hunziker to workout with others, it also benefited a great cause. All the profits went towards the Doppa Difesa organization, which is a charity that helps survivors of domestic abuse.

2. She Remembers To Stretch

Michelle Hunziker "Iron Ciapet" Fitness PerformanceDaniele Venturelli/Getty Images

Hunziker posts a lot of her go-to exercises and workout routines on Facebook lives. And she remembers to start her workout with a session of stretching and warming up. The first thing Hunziker and her trainer do in this Facebook live workout video is a series of stretches. They are seen doing forward bends, oblique stretches, and working out their arms. It is important to do some stretches before doing an intense workout. According to Harvard Health, “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

3. She Works Out Her Legs

Hunziker has a stunning set of gams, and she got them for a reason. In the same workout video on Facebook Live, Hunziker and her trainers are seen doing a lot of leg workouts. They are seen doing front lunges, leg lifts, squat step outs, and cross lunges. Leg workouts are important, and the expression “Don’t skip leg day,” rings true. The Mayo Clinic emphasizes the important of a varied and balanced workout. “Whether you create your own fitness training program or enlist the help of a personal trainer, your overall exercise plan should include several elements.”

4. She Uses A Chair In Her Workouts

Chairs aren’t just for sitting down. At least, they aren’t for Hunziker and her trainers. In their Facebook Live, Hunziker and her trainers do a lot of workouts with a chair. They are seen doing push ups, arm raises, and leg lifts with their hands on the chair. Multicare.org reports, “Whether it’s from your office, the comfort of your own home or in a class format, chair exercises are a great low-impact way to incorporate movement into your routine.”

5. She Does Workouts That Help Her Back

Hunziker revealed in an interview with Oggi that she had to make a lot of changes to her workout routine. She used to do a lot of outdoor sports, but a back injury prevented her from doing so. She then decided to do workouts that would help her back and posture. “I sneezed and my back got stuck. It is there that I discovered postural gymnastics which, together with pilates, changed my life, I never had pain again.”

Bianca Bustamante is revving up her engine in 2025 – in her workout gear. In a new social media post, the racecar driver reveals she is taking “the next major step” in her physical journey as a race driver “and I’ve set the target high!” she says in a new Instagram post, filled with video clips of herself lifting heavy weights at the gym. “Never been more motivated in my life, it’s not physically easy for a girl in this sport, but I’m super excited to take on this new challenge and the next big step on my racing journey,” she added. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here are her top lifestyle tips.

Lifting Weights

Bianca spends hours at the gym where she focuses on strength training along with endurance, cardio, reaction time, and reflexes. “You know, to be a driver, it’s a complete package. It takes strength. It takes mental fortitude. It takes reflexes, smart thinking, and survival skills,” she told MEGA Active. “Sometimes it's for the body, sometimes it's for the mind. Nothing more peaceful than early sessions,” she captioned an Instagram post of one of her sessions.

Double Down On Training

In her recent post, Bianca reveals that she working extra hard at the gym. “I’ve been working hard over the years to build a solid foundation, but in 2025, I’ll be working with @j_w_90 and I’m doubling down on my training. Increasing to two workouts a day not just on lifts but aerobic endurance, as well as a better focus on nutrition and rest, in order to raise the bar to compete in the higher formulas,” she said.

Fueling Your Body With Protein

Bianca makes sure to eat enough protein in order to build more muscle and stay as lean as possible to meet the weight requirement. “It’s been a really cool journey seeing my body develop and transform into this whole different person I never knew I could become,” she said. In her new post she added that she is meal prepping. “I’m soooo all in that im even learning how to cook & meal prep better than ever before,” she writes.

Taking Cold Plunges

As for recovery, cold plunging is part of Bianca’s training regime. Limited research supports the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increasing focus, improving sleep, and decreasing inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes post-sport recovery.

Working On Self-Esteem

Positive self-talk is also important. “Of course, I put a lot of pressure on myself, but in the end, I always tell myself that as long as I give my best and I learn from it, any mistake I make is valid,” Bianca explained. “I always try to repeat that to myself that I am valid. I’m here for a reason and there’s nothing I would rather do than be here.”

Dancing

You can also find Brenda dancing to burn calories. Dancing is an excellent workout for many reasons. It builds strength and promotes flexibility, helps you lose weight, and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop or die from heart disease than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues

She Supports Animals

Romani has her own charity, Help Miami Cats. She talked about how she started this in the caption of this Instagram post. “❤️ Guys!!!! I have always loved cats and had many growing up. When I moved to Miami Beach I met a great calico named Chacha and learnt that cats were brought to the city by Mayor Lummus … against rodents. Cats rely on volunteers for their food and water and there’s a huge amount of them. There’s a city program to Spay and neuter with the wonderful @sobecats ladies and the feeding is made official by a City Sanctioned badge, yet new cats keep getting dumped daily sadly and there’s a never ending amount of work, emergencies and so on. I was on a feeding rotation but during the pandemic I was left alone caring for so many as people left town or couldn’t afford feeding anymore …I decided to start my own non profit @helpmiamicats . We feed close to 200 and when Batman got paralyzed took him and other special needs cats under my care … @stevensachs69 with the cat room and the amazing people involved devote their lives to these special souls … My life has changed a lot too … way less spare time, way more sweat and tears and lost the person I had by my side who had sadly other priorities … yet gained so much love from these lovely creatures !!! If you can please get involved in any way … follow @helpmiamicats , share, volunteer, adopt … donate … Only together we can make their world a better place !!! And yes … just me feeding the kitties and talking to them … 🤷🏻♀️👀😆❤️🙌”
