Jennifer Aniston Swears by These 7 Habits to Stay Fit at 55

Here is everything you need to know about her approach to longevity

It’s hard to believe that Jennifer Aniston is 55 and turning 56 in February! Since soaring to fame in 1994, the Friends star has hardly aged in the three decades that have passed – and she has never been secretive about her devotion to health and wellness. Her hard work over the years has paid off through her strong and lean body and ageless looks. Here is everything you need to know about Jennifer Aniston’s approach to longevity.

She Maintains a High Protein Diet

"My nutrition is very much the same. It's usually a lot of high protein, vegetables, salads, soups,” she tells People. “I do 80/20. I give myself days where I can have whatever I want. I don’t deprive myself,” she added to TODAY. Why should you consider amping up your protein intake? According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW) but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

She Cheats on Occasion

Jennifer allows herself to indulge in “everything I would possibly want on a weekend,” she told People. Her cheat meal “depends,” she says. “I mean, dare I sound repetitive, but Mexican food is a real favorite of mine. It's not even that much of a cheat, to be honest. Or a cheeseburger or pizza or pasta — all that stuff.”

She Tries to Get Enough Sleep

“My bigger challenge is sleep. I think that’s all part of our nutritional hygiene — the amount of water we get as well as the amount of sleep we get. It’s the combination of all of those things that make your workouts the most effective," she told TODAY.

She Exercises in the Morning

“I’ve become gentler with myself,” she says of her approach to fitness, which has “definitely evolved” over the years. “I find that I can be gentler on my body and still get the benefits of a great workout,” she told Prevention. She specifically loves P.Volve workouts, a functional fitness that helps you “function throughout the day” and “work out your essential muscle groups to keep your body strong,” she says. “So you can live a long, healthy, strong life.”

She Hydrates

Aniston prioritizes hydration, drinking a whopping 100 ounces of water per day. "But occasionally I just have to have a Diet Coke—there's nothing like it!" According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is essential for various reasons. Water helps eliminate waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature regular, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

She Does Pilates, Spinning, Elliptical, and Running Workouts

“I had an injury last fall and I was only able to do Pilates, which I absolutely love. But I was missing that kind of sweat when you just go for it,” she recently told InStyle. “I'm going back to my 15-15-15, which is a 15-minute spin, elliptical, run. And then just old school: I can chase myself around a gym. I need some kind of movement, even if it's just 10 minutes a day on a trampoline.”

Jennifer Aniston has, and will always be, body goals. The star has maintained her fit figure, acting as motivation for so many women working to get to a healthy place. If you take one look at Jen’s social media, you’ll know the Friends star doesn’t just make time for wellness, she makes it a lifestyle. Same goes for those she surrounds herself with. Stylist Chris McMann, for example, is showing off one of his styles on Instagram. The model? Aniston. In it, Aniston posed in a chair wearing a swimsuit top. McMann captioned the post, “Love a good blowout.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Jennifer Aniston stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Mixes Up Classes

It’s so important to keep it fun, mixing up workouts so things don’t get stagnant. When Jen sat down with Molly McNearney at InStyle, she raved about everything from boxing to barre. “There's something about the mental aspect of boxing — the drills, your brain has to work, you're not just sitting on a bike," said Jen. "Boxing is a great way to get aggression out. You get a mental release of all this crap you're taking into your ears and eyes every day and have little fantasy moments imagining who you're punching." According to Harvard Health Publishing, boxing helps improve muscle strength, endurance, balance, and possibly eye-hand coordination.

2. She Swears by the Elliptical

26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red CarpetKevin Mazur/Getty Images

If you’re just starting out, intimidated by the machines at the gym or deciding what machine to purchase for your home, Jen has raved about the elliptical during a past interview with Vogue. "I do 45 mins of intervals on my elliptical. I raise the incline, run for two mins, walk for one, run for two ... and I do it for 20 minutes straight until I'm just drenched." Ellipticals allow you to get the job done, breaking a good sweat and burning a lot of calories, while not putting too much pressure on your joints.

3. She Says Namaste to Stay in Shape

SAG-AFTRA Foundation's 4th Annual Patron Of The Artists Awards - ArrivalsJon Kopaloff/FilmMagic

Unsurprising, yoga is involved. Behind every amazing body and clear mind seems to be the practice of yoga to maintain physical and mental health. Mandy Ingber, the woman behind Jen’s hot yoga bod, explained the routine she does with Jen in an article with Healthista. "I would do 30 minutes of spinning, 40 minutes of yoga, incorporating some of my 'hybrid' yoga poses paired with a toning exercise,” explained Mandy. “We would do some power yoga, vinyasa flow and then some yin yoga stretching, and then finish with the infrared sauna." There are incredible benefits when it comes to practicing yoga. It’s known to increase flexibility, improve mental health, reduce stress, and build strength, among other benefits.

4. She Swears by Intermittent Fasting

77th Annual Golden Globe Awards - ArrivalsSteve Granitz/WireImage

Jen seems to avoid the fade diets, just maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but one she does like is intermittent fasting. She learned from Dr. David Sinclair that “stressing the body through exercise is a good thing,” Jen explains in an interview with Byrdie. “We're taught that we need to constantly relax, go on vacations, and take naps to rehabilitate, but they aren't the greatest things for our bodies. The best thing is to stress your body.” That might seem like an unusual suggestion, but she doesn’t mean emotional stress. Things like fasting, proper exercise, and eating right. When Jen follows intermittent fasting she doesn’t have food in the morning and notices a huge difference when going without solid food for 16 hours.

5. She Drinks Collagen

Collagen,Powder,And,Morning,Coffee.,Beauty,Suppliment,Concept.Shutterstock

For Jennifer, incorporating collagen has been crucial when it comes to maintaining her healthy lifestyle. In fact, she’s behind Vital Protein so much that she’s a brand ambassador and a board member. "I have had a passion for health and wellness for years," Jen said. "I know this topic can be overwhelming so through this campaign, I want to show simple ways to incorporate collagen into your daily life. For me, it’s adding it to my morning coffee and replenishing after a workout, but there is truly an option for everyone." What does it do? According to the Mayo Clinic, there’s not a ton of proof backing up how well taking collagen works, but collagen in general is one of the building blocks of your bones and skin.

Dive in as we uncover five of Jen’s top fitness strategies, complete with stunning snapshots that show just how well they work!

1. She Makes Time For Herself

Aniston shared some of her wellness secrets with Shape Magazine. She says that making time for herself is important to her. "I think it's important. I think you have to have a nice amount of ‘me’ time-whatever it is. Even back [at the start of my career], I'd come home from work and-as corny as it sounds–I would always sit and watch the sunsets because they're so beautiful and it would just be a nice little time to chill out. Now, the morning is my self-care time because it gears me up for the day ahead. For me, that's meditation, which I do first thing when I wake up before I have my coffee, because if I get out of the room I won't sit back down. So I'll start with that to just kind of calm myself before I head out to exercise."

2. She Does Interval Training

Aniston shared some of her favorite workouts with Shape. She says that she does a lot of interval training. "I still love yoga and cardio, but these days it's been interval training. I think muscle confusion and switching it up is important. I work out at Rise Nation [a 30-minute total-body climbing workout] and with my trainer [Rise Nation founder] Jason who just has me carrying really heavy ropes around and throwing medicine balls against walls and stuff. I'd never really done anything like that before, but I love it.”

3. She Takes Fitness Classes

Aniston tells Shape that she likes to take fitness class. “I take the class Taryn Toomey's The Class, which I am in love with because it's sort of a fantastic moving meditation. You get your emotions out, you get your psyche cleaned, you get your body sweating-it checks a lot of boxes. So that's one I'm very into right now. You feel the power of the group energy-it's kind of an extraordinary experience. Not to expose too much, but the first time I did it I was in tears!"

4. She Eats Healthy In The Morning

Aniston shared her typical breakfast with Shape. "I make a quick shake with protein powder, spinach, maca powder, berries, and vitamin C powder I put in there that's pretty good. I'm not a big breakfast person, but I made myself become a breakfast person. I was always one of those people that just didn't eat in the morning but, of course, you're always hearing it's the most important meal of the day so I find that the shake is really good. Sometimes I do a fasted workout and just have a cup of coffee and then go and work out. You actually have more energy than you expect and [burn more calories] because you're dipping into the reserves as opposed to using the food you've just processed and ingested."

5. She’s Living A Healthy Life

Jennifer.AnistonJennifer Aniston/Instagram

Aniston shared some of her secrets for living a healthy life to CR Fashion Book. “I drink a lot of water, move my body daily, try to eat whole, fresh foods, and get as much sleep as I can. That last part is chal- lenging for me, but it’s so important. I feel it when I don’t get enough rest. In addition to all of that, I try to be really mindful about what I let into my head- space. Our world is really going through some challenges, and I know we all care a lot, but sometimes I think it’s imperative that we turn off the noise.”

Jennifer Aniston is no stranger to shutting down rumors. However, there is one piece of buzz that has been surrounding the Morning Show star for several decades that is undeniable: she is a serious health and fitness nut. Over the years, the now-52-year-old has never shied away from revealing all of her health, wellness, and fitness secrets—from everything she eats to how much and how often she exercises. Here are some of the things she does to look and feel her very best, and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Maintains a Healthy Diet

SAG-AFTRA Foundation's 4th Annual Patron Of The Artists Awards - Arrivals Photo by Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic

Consistency is key when it comes to Aniston’s approach to diet. "I don't let eating habits get out of control where I need a reset button," she revealed to Yahoo Food. "My general philosophy is to eat healthy. It's pretty clear: eat as much organic fruits and veggies as you can, keep sugar [intake] low, drink tons and tons of water, and get good sleep." One of her diet tricks? Eating the same thing almost every day. For example, Courteney Cox once revealed that she and her BFF ate the same exact "Jennifer salad" every day for a decade—a modified Cobb, with garbanzo beans added, and turkey bacon instead of regular bacon.

2. She Makes Hydration a Priority

Pouring,Water,From,Bottle,Into,Glass,On,Blue,BackgroundShutterstock

Aniston once revealed that she drinks a whopping 100 ounces of water (Smartwater, of course) per day. "But occasionally I just have to have a Diet Coke—there's nothing like it!"

3. She Infuses Her Coffee with Collagen

Woman,Pour,Collagen,Powder,Or,Protein,In,Morning,Smoothie,OrShutterstock

In a recent Instagram video, Aniston showed off her favorite morning beverage: a jolt of java infused with Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. Aniston loves the line so much, she is their Chief Creative Officer. “I’ve always been an advocate for finding wellness from the inside out - and I’m so happy to share the importance of collagen,” she revealed.

4. She Modifies Her Favorite Guilty Pleasures

77th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals Photo by George Pimentel/WireImage

Similar to her modified Cobb, Aniston swaps unhealthier ingredients with healthier options. Take her beverage of choice for example, a margarita. "It's basically silver tequila with lime juice shaken and over rocks," she told InStyle. "And some people like a little Cointreau, some don't. It's a cleaner margarita. No sugar, no mixes, no agave. I don't like sweet drinks."

5. She Mixes Up Her Workouts

Five,Aduls,People,Doing,Exercises,On,Stretching,Ballet,Barre,DuringShutterstock

“Variety is key” when it comes to Aniston’s workouts. "Mixing it up is always fun because that way you know you're excited, and it's muscle confusion. It keeps your body awake," she told Women’s Health. Her favorite workouts include cycling, yoga, barre method, Body by Simone and more recently, boxing. "It's the longest workout I've actually stayed with consistently other than yoga," she told InStyle. "There's something about the mental aspect of boxing — the drills, your brain has to work, you're not just sitting on a bike. It's amazing." Additionally, she explains that it is "a great way to get aggression out."

6. She Works Out Almost Every Day

Aniston once revealed to InStyle that she works out five out of seven days a week. "I work out almost every day, at least five or six days a week," she told the magazine.

Discover how elite CrossFit athlete Dani Elle Speegle stays in peak condition with weightlifting, golfing, jumping rope, hiking, and cold plunges.

Dani Elle Speegle isn’t just strong—she’s unstoppable. The elite CrossFit athlete and social media sensation has built a massive following by sharing her intense training sessions and inspiring fitness moments. Recently, she posted a series of weightlifting photos on Instagram, proving once again why she’s a powerhouse in the gym.

“Just a girl and her barbell,” she captioned the post, letting her strength do the talking. From lifting heavy to outdoor adventures, here’s how Speegle stays in peak condition.

She Lifts Weights

In her Instagram post, Speegle is seen lifting weights. According to ACE Fitness, doing this has a lot of benefits. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

She Golfs

Speegle likes to golf to keep herself in shape. She shared a video of herself on the course in this Instagram post. According to Randa aerobic exercise. “Golf can help strength and balance, improve quality of life and provide aerobic exercise. On a regular 18-hole course, most players will walk between four and five miles, burning up to 2,000 calories.”

She's Into Jumping Rope

Speegle shared this video on Instagram of herself competing in Crossfit events. In it, she is seen jumping rope. According to The Cleveland Clinic, jumping rope has a lot of benefits. “Benefits of jump rope can help improve your coordination, get your heart rate going and help burn calories — and it’s an easy, affordable way to get some cardio in.”

She Hikes

Speegle likes to hike to keep herself in shape. She shared this photo on Instagram of herself hiking the Koko Head Summit. Speegle captioned the post, “Woke up and chose pain today. Every 45 min X 3 rounds: Koko head 💀💀💀 Then sat in my car and stared into the abyss while munching on Banan 🥲🥲🥲”

She Does Cold Plunges

Speegle makes sure to recover. One thing she likes to do is cold plunges. Speegle shared this video of herself jumping into a tub. According to The Mayo Clinic, these have a lot of benefits. “Research on cold-water immersion has found evidence that it helps reduce the degree of exercise-induced muscle damage that can occur after physically challenging activities. Less damage leads to less inflammation, which in turn reduces soreness and helps restore physical performance the next day. These benefits may be the result of rapid constriction of the blood vessels due to the cold water. The cold can trigger responses in your body, such as decreased metabolic activity, alterations in hormone production and blood flow, and activation of the immune system.”

Discover how Tvesa Malik, SuperSport Ladies Championship winner, stays in peak shape with weightlifting, core work, and golf.

Tvesa Malik isn’t just a pro golfer—she’s a powerhouse athlete dedicated to staying in peak shape. The SuperSport Ladies Championship winner knows that strength and endurance are just as important as skill on the course. That’s why she takes her fitness seriously, incorporating weightlifting, core work, and mobility exercises into her training.

Last year, Malik gave fans a look at her workout routine in an Instagram video, where she powered through hanging crunches, lunges, and weightlifting sessions. She captioned the post, “Got some major work to do before my next session,” proving that even elite athletes are always striving to improve. Here’s a closer look at how Malik keeps her body strong and ready for competition.

She Lifts Weights

Malik is seen doing a lot of weight lifting in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that this has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

She Does Lunges

Malik is seen shifting into lunges in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that lunges are a form of unilateral training, and that makes them effective. “Unilateral training is a more effective way to build functional strength (than using both legs) because these types of movement mimic other everyday motions, like walking and climbing stairs — and not just to the working leg. Research suggests the strength gains to the nonworking side are about half of the strength gains of the working side.”

She Does Core Workouts

Malik is seen doing core workouts, like hanging crunches in her Instagram video. Core workouts are extremely important. The Mayo Clinic says, “While it takes aerobic activity to burn fat in your stomach, core exercises can strengthen and tone the underlying muscles. Strong core muscles make it easier to do many activities. When your core muscles are strong, it's easier to swing a golf club, get a glass from the top shelf and bend down to tie your shoes.”

She Does Pull-Ups

An upper body workout that Malik likes to do is pull-ups. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing them at the gym. Malik captioned it, “Got some major work to do before my next session.” Asphalt Green says that pull-ups have a lot of benefits. “Pull-ups are a fantastic way to improve upper-body strength. This exercise primarily targets your back and biceps, but involves many stabilizing muscles in your core, arms, and shoulders. Depending on the way you grip the bar, you can even work your chest. Plus, you don’t need any fancy equipment to do a pull-up. Tree branches, scaffolding, and even door frames are all places people can do pull-ups.”

She Golfs

Golf is obviously one of the ways that Malik keeps herself in shape. Better Health says that the sport has a lot of benefits. “Golf can be good for your health and your heart. Walking an average course for a round of golf can be between five to seven kilometres. If you walk 18 holes three to five times a week, you’ll get an optimal amount of endurance exercise for your heart. If you pull your clubs or carry them, you’ll burn even more calories each round and benefit even more.”

Camila Guper is more than just a fitness influencer—she’s a motivation powerhouse. With 1.1 million Instagram followers, she inspires her audience with workout routines, wellness tips, and a disciplined approach to staying fit. Recently, she took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her latest gym session, including a stairclimber workout, a snapshot of her Apple Watch tracking her progress, and a post-workout mirror selfie in pink workout gear.

Her message? Consistency is key. “Don't underestimate the power of small, consistent actions! Every effort is worth it when you know where you want to go,” she captioned the post. From intense stair workouts to leg-sculpting exercises, here’s how Guper stays in top shape.

She Uses A Stairclimber

In her Instagram post, Guper is seen using the stairclimber. Stair workouts have a lot of health benefits. ACE Fitness says, “Improving metabolic health in terms of lower risks of heart problems and other complications, also by definition improves fitness. You can feel your heart working harder and the fire in your lungs when you ascend stairs. And that’s provoking important changes in your cardiorespiratory system that will make physical activities, like running and walking, feel easier.”

She’s Consistent

Guper makes sure to stay consistent with her workout routines. One way she does so is by staying disciplined. Guper talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Good morning! May we always have the discipline to do what is good for us. Amen 💪🏽🙏🏽✨ 40 min stair + shoulder and chest workout today.”

She Does Lunges

Guper shared some of her favorite lower body workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is lunges. According to The Mayo Clinic, lunges have a lot of benefits. “The lunge is a body resistance exercise that works the leg muscles. Specifically, the lunge targets the quadriceps and the hamstring muscles in the thigh, the gluteal muscles in the buttock, and to a lesser extent, the lower leg muscles.”

She Does Leg Extensions

In the previous Instagram video, Guper is seen using the leg extension machine. Asphalt Green says that leg extensions have a lot of benefits. “These machines provide isolation exercises for your legs. This type of exercise works only one muscle or group of muscles, which means you can build up that part of your body quickly. If you want your thigh muscles to really stand out in those shorts you just bought, the leg extension machine is for you!”

She Spends Time Outside

Guper likes to spend time outside. She shared this set of photos on Instagram of herself enjoying a day by the pool with her dog. Guper captioned the post, “Good Morning! What book are you reading? 📖💚🐺🌮 I'm loving reading How to become super natural! I'm already sharing saying it's a must-read.”
