Nastia Liukin is one of the most successful gymnasts of all time. She competed for Team USA in the 2008 Summer Olympics. She won a gold medal, a bronze medal, and three silver medals at the games. Liukin shared a new reel of herself going through her wellness routine on Instagram. In it, she is seen stretching and doing cartwheels on the beach, walking her dog, picking up vegetables, and bike riding. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Nastia Liukin stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Walks Her Dogs

As you can see in her reel, Liukin loves to walk her dog to stay in shape. The Mayo Clinic states that walking has a lot of health benefits. “For example, regular brisk walking can help you: Maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat. Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer and type 2 diabetes. Improve cardiovascular fitness. Strengthen your bones and muscles.”

2. She Eats Vegetables

Fruits,And,Vegetables,Fresh,Large,Rainbow,Overhead,Assortment,Colorful,BackgroundShutterstock

As you can see in her recent reel, Liukin loves to eat vegetables. Scirp.org states that vegetables have a lot of health benefits. “Vegetables are considered essential for well-balanced diets since they supply vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, and phytochemicals. Each vegetable group contains an unique combination and amount of these phyto nutraceuticals, which distinguishes them from other groups and vegetables within their own group. In the daily diet vegetables have been strongly associated with improvement of gastrointestinal health, good vision, and reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, chronic diseases such as diabetes, and some forms of cancer.”

3. She Bikes

In her reel, Liukin is seen biking. The University of Montana states that biking has a lot of benefits. “Cycling is one of the healthiest and most low-impact forms of exercise - meaning it causes less strain and injuries than most other workouts. So it's a hobby you can continue to enjoy throughout you long life. And, unlike other forms of exercise, you won't dread doing it. Even if you take cycling seriously and go at it hard, the blood pumping and wind in your face is still exhilarating, even when it's difficult.”

4. She Practices Meditation

Nastia.LiukinNastia Liukin/Instagram

Liukin shared her morning routine in an interview with Well + Good. She says that she likes to practice meditation each day. “Meditation is also crucial to my mental health. For me, it just involves stepping away from my phone, closing my eyes, and focusing on breathing. The combo of journaling and meditation is my saving grace for clearing my mind and focusing on my day. I sometimes have so much going on and it can feel overwhelming, but doing both of these things first-thing [in the morning] really calms my mind and allows me to focus on what I have to do.”

5. She Stays Motivated To Work Out

Liukin is driven to workout regularly. She shared her secret for doing so with Today.com. "I think the most important thing to know is, you'll never regret a workout when it's over. And it's just hard to tell yourself that before you've done it. But just try to remember how you feel after your workout, and know that when you feel good, you look good, and you have more confidence, and so I think that that's really important."

Kristina Nicole, aka Kristina Mendoza, is showing off her muscles – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post, the influencer and bodybuilder flaunts her impressive physique in a white sports bra and black booty shorts as she poses at the gym. “You’ll never win —> if you’re too scared to lose,” she captioned the Instagram photo. “Beautiful,” commented one of her followers. “Whoa that tricep is in 3D 🔥,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Hamstring and Quads Training Days

Mendoza trains both her hamstrings and quads on the same day, adding in adductors. “I like to burn them out a little bit before I get into the compound movements like the leg press or squat machine,” Mendoza explained. After a brief introduction, Mendoza then demonstrates each of the movements that she likes to work with

Hydrating Throughout Workouts

Mendoza makes sure to take a “water break” several times during her workouts. The Mayo Clinic explains hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps eliminate waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Mastery is Key

“Mastery is a mindset: It requires the capacity to see your abilities not as finite, but as infinitely improvable. Mastery is a pain: It demands effort, grit, and deliberate practice. Mastery is… never fully reaching mastery but always striving to get there,” Kristina captioned a post.

Stretching

Before lifting, Kristina warms up on the bike and also stretches. “I like to start with lighter weight for the first couple of sets before I work up into my working sets,” said. She performs two to three lighter sets before doing one working set. She follows that up with a “back-off” set that is lighter weight and has more reps. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

Training During the Off-Season

Kristina explains that most of her progress is made in her offseason. “There’s a lot of calories going in. Training gets more and more intense as the calories go up,” she said, adding that she used to train legs twice a week, but now only does legs once. “I’m trying to bring my upper body up, be a little more symmetrical with the legs, so I have better flow and balance onstage,” she told Muscle & Fitness.

Niykee Heaton is hitting a pilates class – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post, the Instagram model flaunts her fantastic figure in a skintight exercise ensemble as she poses on a reformer. “I actually left the house,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Boootyful,” one of her followers commented. “Gorgeous,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Walks Her Dog

Niykee takes her dog on lots of walks, a great workout according to a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

She Manifests

Niykee is a big believer in manifesting. “My key to manifestation is simple. I’ve found that the universe isn’t concerned with what you’re obsessed with. The universe doesn’t give you what you want. The universe gives you who you are,” she captioned a post.

She Slips in Short Workouts

No time, no excuses! Niykee slips in 5-minute workouts throughout her day. “Whenever I can. In between laundry cycles, nap time, food fights. One of the rare times I’m not holding an infant while squatting,” she wrote, sharing a video of her short routine consisting of kettlebell squats, hip thrusts, and lunges.

She Hikes

Niykee enjoys getting outside and going for hikes. The National Parks Service reveals that the physical benefits of hiking include building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance, improving your heart health, and decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems.

She Stretches

Sport,Girl,Smiling,And,Stretching,The,Body,In,Fitness,ClassShutterstock

Niykee understands the importance of stretching. “Mood no matter what while working out. I am not that type of person who enjoys exercising, as you can see by the pure anger on my face while I’m still in stretch mode,” she captioned a post.

Pilates

In her latest post, Niykee does Pilates. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

2. She Makes Working Out Fun

Liukin tells HollywoodLife that one of her biggest secrets to working out consistently is making exercise fun. She says, “You don’t have to be training for the Olympics, just do something active! Make it fun! I mean, skating with your friends in Bryant Park? That’s awesome! But you don’t have to be in New York City. It doesn’t matter where you are, just get your body moving. Obviously, it’s easy in the summer but the winter is just as important. The earlier we teach these young kids, the better, because habits do stick. No matter what, it has to be fun. Everything you do — it should be fun and you have to be passionate about it. Gymnastics isn’t for everyone. You have to find something YOU love to do and that is fun for you and stick to it.”

If you know on a Saturday night you have a party, and there’s going to be tons of not-great food and desserts, try to be good that week and have some salads, greens, and proteins from Monday through Friday. On Saturday, you can indulge and not feel so bad. I’m all about moderation and just living. Life is short and you don’t want to be miserable. Indulge, but maybe not every single day!”

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
