1. She Loves Planks
Holloway revealed some of her favorite exercises to Well + Good. “I love planks,” she says. “Any type of planks.” Holloway cites plank jacks and high planks as particular favorites. Planks have a lot of benefits. The Cleveland Clinic states, “Plank exercises work your core muscles, which are located between your pelvic floor and diaphragm. The area is also known as your trunk. These muscles support your movements and stabilize the spine.”
2. She Eats A Lot Of Protein
Holloway revealed some of her health secrets to Sprout Living. Being an athlete, she has to eat healthy. Holloway says that she eats a lot of protein in particular. “Protein is what keeps your body strong as an athlete,” she explains. “Being a professional surfer, dealing with Mother Nature and the ocean, my body needs a lot of protein and endurance. The waves can get pretty intense and you always want to have your body in a strong state.”
3. She’s Consistent

Being an athlete, Holloway has to stay consistent when it comes to health and wellness. She tells Sprout Living that this is easy for her to do. Holloway says that she enjoys feeling healthy, and that keeps her consistent. “What motivates me to live a healthy and mostly balanced lifestyle is the way it makes me feel. When you have the right diet and live an active lifestyle, your body and soul feel great.”
4. She Has Passion
Holloway enjoys her career as a professional surfer. She tells Sprout Living that this passion keeps her motivated. “For me, motivation stems from the love I have for the ocean, surfing and living a healthy lifestyle. My advice is to always have passion and love for something that makes you feel healthy and positive about yourself.”
5. She Does Jiu-Jitsu
One thing Holloway does to stay in shape is a type of jiu-jitsu. "It’s this idea of using your body consistently,” she tells Well + Good. “You rest, but every movement is getting you ready for the next move, so that’s what I liked about it. It has good momentum and you use every part of your body. It's like yoga, but with a little more intensity."
