Alyssa Milano is a lot of things. A successful actress known for her roles in Who's The Boss?, Charmed, and Mistresses. She's the host of Project Runway: All-Stars. She's a well-known political activist. And she's recently written a new book, entitled Sorry Not Sorry. She Doesn't Weigh Herself

​​When Milano was trying to lose weight after having her two children, she didn't use a scale. Rather, she just observed how her clothes fit her and how she was feeling. "It's really just when I'm feeling good and my clothes fit me," she says to PEOPLE. "I try not to step on the scale because you can obsess over that."

She Has Done the Atkins Program

When it comes to food, Milano uses the popular Atkins program. She's even done commercials for Atkins. "I like to think of it more as a lifestyle because if I think of it as a diet, then I feel like I'm dieting and that's no fun," Milano said on FOX 11 Los Angeles. "I've found that Atkins has the greatest tools, whether it'd be their app or their products."

She Avoids Sugar

As part of her Atkins program, Milano says that she avoids sugar. "When I cut out the sugar, which is a lot of what Atkins is about, my cravings went away," she says to PEOPLE. Milano says that when she does have junk food or sugary cravings, she reaches for healthy alternatives. "I go for the Atkins peanut butter cups," says Milano. "I just give myself a treat and know it's not horrible for me."

She Grows Her Ingredients

Milano tells PEOPLE that she has her own garden, and uses the ingredients she grows in her family's meals. "My mint is out of control right now, so I basically put it in everything," Milano uses as an example. "It doesn't matter what it is, it's getting mint in it."

She Makes Healthy Meals

Milano says that she likes to make healthy meals for herself and her family. This even included using the grill during warmer days. "I love to grill chicken or fish," she said to PEOPLE. "I love grilled vegetables because I think it gives it a little bit of a smoky flavor, and you do some olive oil with salt and pepper and it's just delicious."
