Aloe Vera

Petit likes to utilize aloe vera as part of her beauty routine. “Aloe is an unassuming plant,” says Beth Czerwony, RD. “It doesn’t really look like it’s all that special. But it can actually provide a lot of benefits… The aloe vera juice itself is much more potent,” she says. “If we’re looking at properties, you’re going to get more bang for your buck from the juice than if you use it as a topical.”

She Skis

Petit loves being out on the slopes with her friends and family. “Skiing gets you outdoors in the winter when we often end up on the couch and are passive,” says physical therapist Scott Tremmel. “We’re just not as active when the cold weather sets in, but skiing keeps you moving to continue to build up your endurance. When you’re skiing, you’re often out with a group of friends and you’re socializing. You’re getting fresh air and taking in the beautiful scenery around you. It’s good for your emotional health.”

Almonds For a Snack

Almonds are Petit’s go-to snack. “Almonds are a good source of nutrients that are important for brain health, including vitamin E, folate and unsaturated fatty acids, as well as l-carnitine which is known for its neuroprotective benefits,” says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. “More human trials are required but animal studies have shown that almond consumption may well boost memory.”

Fresh Berries

Petit enjoys fresh berries as a delicious treat, especially raspberries. “Being rich in protective plant compounds called polyphenols, raspberries may help reduce the signs of aging and improve balance and strength,” Shubrook says. “The berries are also rich in vitamin C, which is important for collagen production and may protect the skin from UV damage. Much of these findings are the result of animal models, so more human trials are needed.”

No Dieting, I’m French

Petit says that being Miss France (or Miss anywhere!) does not mean refusing to eat delicious food. “I assure you that a Miss can eat whatever she wishes,” she says. “A Miss can have the right to eat a pizza, a burger, as long as she eats healthily to preserve her health. A Miss France has no diet. It is with pleasure that I will eat cassoulet in Toulouse.”
