To prepare for her role in Our Girl, Turner had to get in shape. She revealed her process to The Mirror. “I did quite a bit of basic training like running and going to the gym. I thought I was quite fit until I got to Pirbright. I was talking to one of the soldiers and watching them do the assault courses.”

Turner talked about her departure from EastEnders in the interview. “I miss it but I’ve never regretted leaving. I try not to have regrets. I feel if you’ve done something then the decision has been made and you should move on.”

If this is not an option, there are many dependable YouTube fitness channels to help you on your strength training journey. Just make sure to do your research. Staying physically active is imperative for our vitality and health. In addition to cardio exercises, you need to include regular strength training into your workout routine. Strength training preserves and enhances your muscle mass, and supports mobility and function, so we can stay active and independent.”

2. She Makes Healthy Smoothies

Turner is a smoothie expert, and loves to incorporate healthy ingredients such as spinach, avocado, and grapes into her concoctions. "Vegetables are high in potassium, which can help lower blood pressure. If the vegetables are pureed so that the fiber is still intact, they will help fill you up," says Joan Salge Blake, a spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. "Having smoothies is a way to stay hydrated."

Turner enjoys grilled chicken and vegetables as part of her healthy eating plan. “The benefits from fruits and vegetables can be attained both through raw and cooking methods,” says Maxine Smith, RD. “Some nutrients are released more when they're cooked, some are more readily available in the raw form. So I always encourage people to try to get a variety of different foods cooked with different cooking methods. For example, when you take dark green leafy vegetables, the folic acid, which is very important for many of the cells in the body for our heart health, is more readily available, less damaged in raw form. So dark green leafy vegetables in salads, for example, would be encouraged.”

Turner takes long walks whenever she can, which is good not just for her physical health but for mental health, too. “Walking can be as good as a workout, if not better, than running,” says Dr. Matt Tanneberg, CSCS, a sports Chiropractor and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in Phoenix, Arizona. “You hear of people 'plateauing' when they continue to do the same workout routine and stop seeing results. I see patients all the time that plateau from running, they will run the same distance, speed and time, day in and day out. You need to constantly be switching up your exercise routine in order to get the maximum benefit for your health.”

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.
