Working Out With Trainers

Jackson does a variety of workouts and exercises to prevent getting bored. "I change this up every day, because otherwise it can get repetitive and boring," she says. "I have two trainers, Lee Mullins and Bradley Simmonds, who I work out with over Zoom or Instagram. Lee's sessions are all about toning and sculpting, while I do intense, energetic HIIT workouts with Bradley. He's currently running them daily on Instagram for anyone who wants to get involved. When it's just me, I love using the Alo Moves app, which has hundreds of classes and trainers to choose from."

Jackson is vegan and likes to get creative with plant-based dishes. "For lunch I'll rustle up a quinoa bowl with spinach, broccoli, hummus, avocado, tomatoes and courgettes, drizzled with a homemade lemon and honey dressing," she says. "Studies suggest that honey might offer antidepressant, anticonvulsant and anti-anxiety benefits," says the Mayo Clinic. "In some studies, honey has been shown to help prevent memory disorders."

3

Meditation Every Day

Jackson makes a point of meditating before every morning and every evening before bed. "Meditation might also improve sleep directly, even in people not experiencing heightened stress or pain," says Michael Breus, PhD, a Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine and a Fellow of The American Academy of Sleep Medicine. "Whether you are facing worries or not, meditation can induce a relaxation response that might help prepare for sleep. People who meditate also experience changes in brain activity, which carry over into sleep."

Hot Water With Lemon and Ginger

Jackson enjoys hot water with lemon, ginger, and honey in the mornings. Ginger contains anti-inflammatory compounds which can help with pain relief. "[Ginger is] beneficial for inflammatory-related conditions and pain relief, specifically menstrual cramps and also arthritis-based conditions," says Candace O'Neill RD, LDN. "When you take over-the-counter pain medication, it helps in an instant. Researchers studying the effects of ginger found the spice has a delayed effect. In a few days, people may anecdotally say, 'You know what, I feel like I'm in less pain.'"

5

Collagen Supplements

Jackson takes supplements as part of her wellness regimen. "I take several supplements each day, including vegan collagen powder for strengthening my skin and Ashwagandha tablets, an Indian Ayurvedic herb that helps boost energy levels and reduce stress," she says. "I also take a spoonful of Manuka honey as a powerful antioxidant."
