1. The Gym Is Boring
Dhawan loves to mix it up when it comes to her workouts. “Exercise is a very important part in my life but just going to the gym is a little boring for me so I mix it up with my dance classes, kickboxing and gymnastics,” she says. “Dancing and gymnastics are my favorite form of cardio, I rather do that over running on a treadmill.”
2. Dog Lover
Dhawan loves animals, especially dogs. “Perhaps one of the greatest psychological benefits of interacting with a dog is the opportunity it provides to be more mindful — to purposely focus your attention on the present moment,” says Harvard Health. “Mindfulness is a lifelong practice that can help you to better appreciate simple everyday experiences like being physically active with your dog. By learning to focus on the here and now, you may find yourself less likely to get caught up in worries or regrets.”
3. Intermittent Fasting
Dhawan practices intermittent fasting, and rarely eats late at night. “I do intermittent fasting and, in fact, I’ve fully made that a part of my life,” she says. “I love eating my junk food, too, so doing intermittent fasting helps me balance it out. So, I guess eating right is very important, but more than that, eating at the correct time matters. I don’t eat late at all and finish my dinner by 7.30 pm."
4. Diwali Treats
Dhawan lets herself enjoy sweet treats at Diwali. “Diwali for me is indulging in some really amazing food,” she says. “There are no faves as such, I look forward to all kinds of different sweets we get to eat. It's probably the only time when my house is filled with so many sweets in one go… Overall, it’s just a much-needed positivity everywhere. Along with Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali happens to be my fave festival.”
5. Healthy Fats
Dhawan saysshe eats healthy fats when she needs to gain some weight. "I wasn’t always on the lean side. I was a very healthy kid and I had to lose 13 kilos initially, which was very difficult,” she says. “I was on a very strict, healthy diet, but it was very short term because I’m a big foodie and I need my pizza too. Currently though, I’m on a weight gain diet so there’s a lot of avocados, dates, dry fruits and smoothies, which I’m enjoying a lot.”
