Sharma’s go-to drink is fresh lime soda. “Limes are packed with antioxidants and phytonutrients," says Carly Sedlacek RDN, LD. “Limes are low in calories, high in micronutrients and punch above their weight with regard to both water and fiber content. They’re really good for us, but most of us aren’t going to make a snack of them. The juice — without added sugar — is the best we can do.”

2. Running Outside

Sharma loves running outside, especially at the beach. “There’s good evidence that spending time outside can reduce stress, depression levels, and anxiety,” says Josh Lawler, a UW environmental & forest sciences professor. “We suspect that one of the routes for the physical benefits is through [the] decreased stress and anxiety.”

3. She Chooses Happiness

Sharma says she chooses happiness in her personal life. “I don't date much but I have had rough patches in relationships. Ups and down are part of life and moving on is an art of life,” she says. “Break ups were there but that all made me so strong and I am a girl who looks at the broader aspect in life. So pain was there but feeling the pain and being sad is a choice.

So I chose happiness. It took time to heal but today I learned happiness is the most important thing in this world.”

Sharma loves to take baths. “Taking a bath has great physical and mental health benefits,” says family medicine provider Amy Zack, MD. “Soaking in a tub is something many people have access to but don’t take advantage of enough. But it can be beneficial for a lot of people.”

When it comes to her career, Sharma loves the benefits creativity brings to her life. “Artist is an artist, no matter where he/she performs," she says. Anushka maintains that exercise not only keeps her fit, but beautiful. “It's important to exercise not just to be healthy and fit but it even reflects on your skin and hair. I am very particular about my workouts and try not to miss it even when I'm shooting," she explained to Vogue India.

2. Find a Workout Buddy

Sharma is a fan of the workout buddy system. Luckily her cricketer husband, Virat Kohli, is game. “When you are about to go to workout, you might feel that you aren’t feeling like doing so but you have to push yourself. So, we are trying to do that because there is obviously a lot of time in hand and we are just trying to do things which will just keep us physically feeling good, immunity high and also mentally feeling better (sic),” she said in an interview with her husband during the pandemic.

3. Eat Healthy

Anushka eats healthy but refuses to go on any crash diets. “I think Virat and me are people who don’t believe in diets and we just have a lifestyle which is very healthy. We have always been like that,” she exclaimed. “There are certain things we don’t eat because they are not good for you. We try to eat food which is alkaline so it’s kind of easy on the stomach and keeps you healthy because if your body is alkaline your immunity is good and that’s something that we have always followed.”

4. Do Pilates

Anushka’s other top fitness method is pilates. “When we started our journey with Pilates together, it was to take care of her sensitive lower back and build a strong core. So our focus was always the core and our aim was to elevate her fitness levels further," her trainer, Megha Kawale, revealed during an interview with Vogue. "Initially, we did a lot of isolated core work as I wanted to ensure that we don’t stress her back, while working on core activation and recruitment. Then gradually we starting mixing the routines in the reformer and chair by doing combination core exercises.”

5. Be Consistent

Sharma maintains that consistency is the key to health. “Just working out, more than anything else, it’s giving me a routine, it’s giving Virat a routine," she said during the interview. Aside from pilates, she loves weight training, yoga, and running.
