She Lost 50 Pounds in 1.5 Years
Ariana lost a lot of weight from 2020 to 2021 and was accused of having an eating disorder. "I'm so over everyone acting like I lost 50 pounds overnight," she explained in an Instagram Story shooting down the speculation. "I was 167 my sophomore year. 145ish my junior, started really working out, eating healthy etc. January of 2020. I am now 118 over a year and a half later. I was 125 last summer. Please stop. I do not have an eating disorder. I worked my ass off to get to where I am today. I am not sick. This is ridiculous and awful to say to someone," she said.
She Exercises
Ariana worked super-hard to get into shape. "I wish I could give y'all some insane secret to get skinny overnight but I cant," she said. "That's not what I did. I ran 3-5 miles a day with a waist trainer on in 90 degree weather. It was hell. I went to the gym, and worked out."
She Does Intermittent Fasting
Ariana is one of the many stars who swears by time restricted eating. "I did intermittent fasting," she revealed. "Wanting to start intermittent fasting?" asks the Mayo Clinic:
- "Consider starting slow with time-restricted eating by cutting out nighttime snacking. Then start to limit your eating period each day. For example, start with an eating period from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Experiment and personalize the diet to what works best for you.
- When you do eat, make sure you are eating a well-balanced diet of fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein."
She Quit Doing These Things
Ariana majorly revamped her diet in two ways. "I ate healthy. I stopped snacking. I didn't drink soda anymore," she said. The added sugar in sodas can really hurt you. Fructose may be the most problematic type of sugar, health-wise: according to one study, fructose may increase blood pressure, increase heart rate, and boost myocardial oxygen demand (basically, how much oxygen your heart needs to function). It may also contribute to inflammation, insulin resistance and overall metabolic dysfunction. And we get more fructose in our diets today than was ever possible before, thanks to high-fructose corn syrup, the sweetener used in soda and most other convenience foods.
She Counted Calories
She also started paying attention to how many calories she was consuming and how many she was burning. "I went into a caloric deficit," she continued. "I counted my calories." Bottom line: "It is a process. It takes time. But believe in yourself. Do it for you. You got this s**t!" she said.
