1. She’s A Vegetarian

Lavigne has been open about being a vegetarian since 2007. According to the Daily Mail, a pizzeria in Lavigne’s hometown of Ontario had to take down a sign saying “Home of Avril Lavigne’s Favorite Pizza.” “I don’t eat mushroom or pepperoni anymore,” she says. “Meat’s not so good for you.” Lavigne says she does cheat occasionally. "I cheat sometimes, I eat fast food. But 90% of the time, I’m on a vegan diet."

2. She Has Followed A Macrobiotic Diet

Lavigne also followed a macrobiotic diet that balances her energy. “I take care of myself, I eat right. I can’t be eating stuff that makes me tired." Lavigne’s diet includes tofu, whole grains, and vegetables as staple foods, she has said. "Many experts recommend filling your plate with foods that grow from the ground. Decades of research suggests that the best diet for cancer prevention is all about plants. That means lots of fruits, vegetables and legumes, and little to no meat or other animal products," says the Mayo Clinic.

3. She Eats All Organic Food on The Road

Back when Lavigne was traveling to perform, she said: “When I’m on tour, I stuff my fridge full with organic food and stick to that." "There is a growing body of evidence that shows some potential health benefits of organic foods when compared with conventionally grown foods," says the Mayo Clinic.

4. She Took A Break From Her Career

After her Lyme Disease left her bedridden for two years, Lavigne decided to slow down her career, and put her recordings on hold. “I've really had the time to be able to just be present, instead of being, like, a machine: studio, tour, studio, tour. This is the first break I’ve ever taken since I was 15," she admitted to Hello!.

5. She’s Very Spiritual

Lavigne revealed to People that her spirituality helped her with her health crisis. “I’m a very spiritual person, and I definitely did turn to God during that experience,” she says. Lavigne says that her faith helps her feel grateful for her progress. “When you go through something like that, you realize how fulfilling simple things are — things I could do anymore, like being able to get up in the morning and go to the kitchen and grab a cup of coffee,” she says. “It taught me patience; it taught me being more present. That was a beautiful lesson.”

6. She Turned To Music To Heal Her

2021 MTV Video Music Awards - ArrivalsAxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Lavigne’s spirituality came through in her songwriting as well. “Music really lifted me up and made me feel better,” she told People. “I was able to take a hard time in my life and make the best out of a circumstance that was I was going through. … At first I didn’t know I was making an album — I just naturally turned to songwriting in a time of healing.”

Avril Lavigne has been a musical icon since she was a teenager. She’s known for singles like “Complicated,” “I’m With You,” and “My Happy Ending.” Lavigne shared a new selfie on her Instagram story this week. In it, she posed in giant sunglasses and a swimsuit. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Avril Lavigne stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Has A Good Work Ethic

Mugler x Hunter Schafer Party - Paris Fashion WeekArnold Jerocki/Getty Images

Lavigne opened up about her career to The Sun. She says that she’s always had a strong work ethic, even when she was a teenager. “The minute I left, I ate pizza every day, stayed up all night and partied my ass off. I wasn’t out of control or into drugs and I had a good work ethic and was well disciplined and did everything I needed to do — that balance was there. I was like a normal teenager away from their parents for the first time. It was great. It was like when people first go to college. Well, I didn’t go to college, I moved on to a tour bus with a bunch of guys.”

2. She Exfoliates Her Skin

Celebrity Sightings - Paris Fashion Week - Womenswear Fall Winter 2023 2024 : Day EightChristian Vierig/Getty Images

Lavigne shared some of her skincare secrets to The Strategist. She says that she makes sure to exfoliate her skin, and names the one from Dermalogica as a favorite. “This exfoliator is from a safe, clean brand that I overall like. I’ve used their exfoliator on and off for a while, but for the past year, I’ve been using it every day because there aren’t a lot of harsh chemicals in it and it makes my skin feel really smooth. A lot of other exfoliators are harsh or feel grainy and can hurt a little. This one’s gentle and has natural ingredients, so it definitely feels clean.”

3. She Raises Awareness

Elie Saab : Photocall - Paris Fashion Week - Womenswear Fall Winter 2023-2024Marc Piasecki/WireImage

Lavigne is open about her struggles with Lyme Disease, which left her unable to work for two years. She raised awareness about this in an interview with Billboard. “It’s a bug — a spirochete — so you take these antibiotics, and they start killing it,” Lavigne explains. “But it’s a smart bug: It morphs into a cystic form, so you have to take other antibiotics at the same time. It went undiagnosed for so long that I was kind of fucked.”

4. She Turned To Her Faith

Blackboards,With,Text,"have,Faith",On,Wooden,BackgroundShutterstock

Lavigne is open about how her faith has helped her. In her return to music in 2018, she wrote several songs about how her faith helped with her Lyme Disease struggles. “I had accepted that I was dying,” she says to Billboard. “And I felt in that moment like I was underwater and drowning, and I was trying to come up to gasp for air. And literally under my breath, I was like, ‘God, help me keep my head above the water.’?”

5. She Gets Her Vitamin D

Avril-LavigneAvril Lavigne/Instagram

"Just being outdoors, you get a fair amount of sun exposure and some sun-related generation of vitamin D,” says Yale Medicine endocrinologist Karl Insogna, MD, director of the Yale Medicine’s Bone Center, to Yale Medicine. “Because skin cancer, particularly melanoma, can be such a devastating disease, it's best to use sunblock when outdoors in strong sunlight for any prolonged length of time. Because this may limit the amount of vitamin D you get from sun exposure, make sure your diet includes sources of vitamin D from foods or supplements,” he says.

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie Piper is embracing island life – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Doesn't Go Under the Knife

Images of a woman saying no to plastic surgery.

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”
