Exercise is a big part of Balvinder's life. "I have always liked to keep fit," she told Just Say It How It Is. "I started doing Aerobics at the age of about 14? And just kept going.  It is important to me that I work out.  Sometimes you just need to get out of your own head and into your body.  I always try to make time for something physical, even if that is just going for a walk."

She Does Yoga

In addition to "long walks" and working out in a gym, Balvinder also is a fan of "doing yoga," she told Just Say It How It Is. According to the American Osteopathic Association, there are more than 100 different types, or schools, of yoga. Most practices include breathing exercises, meditation, and assuming postures (sometimes called asana or poses) that stretch and flex various muscle groups."The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can lessen chronic pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome," Natalie Nevins, DO, a board-certified osteopathic family physician and certified Kundalini Yoga instructor in Hollywood, California, explained to them. "Yoga can also lower blood pressure and reduce insomnia."

Other physical benefits of yoga include:

  • increased flexibility
  • increased muscle strength and tone
  • improved respiration, energy and vitality
  • maintaining a balanced metabolism
  • weight reduction
  • cardio and circulatory health
  • improved athletic performance
  • protection from injury

Balvinder also puts a creative spin on her workouts with the help of hula hoops. "Hula Squatting is brilliant, isn't it?!  I created that at home one day and I really enjoyed it. I am also playing around with Hula Zumba and have choreographed a few routines," she told the same publication.

She Drinks A LOT of Coffee

Navinder is a big fan of coffee, regularly sharing posts about her love of the caffeinated beverage on Instagram. Science continues to prove that drinking coffee is great for your health. In fact, a new 2022 study published in European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that drinking two to three cups a day of most types of coffee – especially a mild to moderate intake of ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee – may protect you from cardiovascular disease and an early death. Researchers found "significant reductions" in the risk for coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure and stroke for all three types of coffee. But, only ground and instant coffee with caffeine decreased risk for arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat.

She Takes Time for Self-Care

Balvinder takes time to relax. "I love gardening and reading (not at the same time) as I find them both very soothing.  I spend a lot of my time travelling up and down the country for work, and I love that too.  Train journeys can be wonderful with a good book, or your favourite music to accompany you.  Oh, and crosswords especially on a train journey this is not complete without doing the Metro's crossword," she told Just Say It How It Is.
