She Eats Her Vegetables
Rodriguez eats fruit and a large portion of vegetables daily, with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. A diet rich in vegetables and fruit can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems and have a positive effect on blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check, according to Harvard University's T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Eating apples, pears and green leafy vegetables may even promote weight loss, the school said.
She Has a Bit of Chocolate
Rodriguez loves chocolate, a food that has numerous beneficial properties. She eats a piece before going to bed. Dark chocolate has beneficial antioxidants called flavonoids that relax your blood vessels and improve blood flow, which lowers blood pressure, said Cleveland Clinic dietitian Devon Peart.
She Cheats on Occasion
Rodriguez eats a healthy diet but will cheat now and then with chips and hamburgers.
But she indulges only as an exception to her normal diet. "When it comes to healthy eating, the key to following the rules may be in breaking them," Northwestern Medicine said. Just don't think of them as cheating but rather as a meal that you earned and should enjoy – without the guilt, the university said.
She Works Out Daily
Rodriguez works out every day, doing a combination of CrossFit and TRX training, which leverages one's bodyweight combined with resistance training. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that adults do a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity five days a week to reduce the risk of chronic disease later in life.
She Stays Positive
"I choose happiness," Rodriguez posted on Instagram after breaking up with ex-partner Antonino Spinalbese earlier this year. "Being happy doesn't just make us feel better, it improves our health," said psychiatrist Francoise Adan, director of the Connor Integrative Health Network of University Hospitals in Cleveland. "It helps us eat healthier, be more active and sleep better."
