1. She Is All About Stretching

Brie-LarsonBrie Larson/Instagram

"Stretching is a huge part of exercise," she explained in a YouTube video. "This is great for mornings, before workouts, as you're winding down your day, or, if you're somebody like me who's spending the majority of their time at a desk looking at Zoom all day, it's good to incorporate a couple of stretches and be kind to yourself." Cat-cow, toe sitting, and cobra pose are a few of her favorites.

2. She Drinks Green Juice

Brie is one of the many stars who drink celery juice. "I hold my stress in my stomach and this feels very soothing/healing in my opinion," she said in an Instagram story.

3. Her Workouts Are Intense

Brie, who trains with Jason Walsh, is all about hardcore workouts. During their session they lift lots of weights, do one-armed pull-ups, and other intense exercises. Once, Brie even pushed a 5,000 pound Jeep down the street. “Pushing myself past my limit, honey! Doesn’t always look pretty but gosh it feels amazing,” she wrote in a post, asking her trainer, “how heavy were these again?”

4. She Cheats

Brie maintains a healthy diet, but indulges on occasion. “Ice cream, anyone?” she captioned this snap of herself indulging in a sweet treat.

5. She Enjoys Exercise

Brie finds pleasure in her sweat sessions. “Even after years of training, I still try to find ways to get out of working out. Luckily @risemovement keeps me motivated by prefacing a new move with ‘this will be fun,’” she captioned one of her Instagram posts.

6. She Is All About Self-Care

Brie makes sure to prioritize self-care. “Sauna, massage, nature - does it get better?” she captioned a recent photo of herself during a wellness getaway at Wilderness Reserve. "Sauna bathing, an activity used for the purposes of pleasure, wellness, and relaxation, is linked to a remarkable array of health benefits. It is a safe activity and can even be used in people with stable CVD, provided it is used sensibly for an appropriate period of time," says the Mayo Clinic. "Indeed, based on the current knowledge and evidence, sauna bathing may have beneficial effects and has therapeutic potential to reduce the risk of adverse health outcomes in the general population. In the future, sauna bathing has the potential to be also recommended for people with cardiovascular risk factors and stable cardiac patients as a pleasant lifestyle measure."

Larson opened up about her stint on The Bachelor on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. She says that she didn’t take the show super seriously, and just enjoyed herself. "I feel like a lot of the girls [on the show] were careful about what they said or [did]," she explained. "They wanted to present themselves well and like, yeah, I just wanted to have fun. It's a show. I wasn't taking it seriously. 'Cause, I mean, that's what it was."

2. She Sticks Up For Herself

Larson was subjected to a lot of criticism because of her time on The Bachelor. Unfortunately, that included some body-shaming. However, Larson made sure to defend herself. When her season’s lead, Matt James’ friends commented on her body, she immediately responded. Larson posted a photo on Instagram and captioned it, “Tell me again, how my body doesn’t look good?”

3. She Got Lasik

Thank you to Doctor Lessner and your entire staff. @havelasik I have severe anxiety and felt so comfortable trusting you to take care of my vision. I’ve worn glasses since I’m 8, and contacts since I’m 10, and always had so much anxiety at eye exams. Not being able to see was so frustrating.”

4. She Goes To The Beach

She says that after receiving criticism from social media, she isn’t going to say anything negative to someone else. “I mean, I prayed a lot and, like, it was hard and I had moments for myself and I would just ask, you know, God and my higher power, like, ‘What is the lesson here? Like, why is this happening?’ And I did feel like it was a growing experience. Like, I'm never going to talk [badly] about people.”

1. She Challenges Herself

Disney+'s "Growing Up" Red Carpet Premiere Event - ArrivalsJon Kopaloff/Getty Images

Brie went from not being able to "walk up a hill without being out of breath" to being one of the strongest actresses in Hollywood in 2019, when prepping for her role in Captain Marvel. "So, I started this journey thinking I'll get strong and I had no idea. I went far beyond what I ever believed was possible for my body," she told Insider. "Being able to hip thrust 400 pounds, deadlift 200 pounds, push my trainer's Jeep, I mean, it's an incredible experience to realize what's inside of you is well beyond what you knew was possible."

2. She Pole Dances

"Made an im-POLE-sive decision to try a new workout class," she wrote. "Pole dancers possessed significantly greater muscle strength and lower back and hamstring muscle flexibility compared to untrained controls. Pole dancers had significantly less body fat and significantly more muscle mass in the upper limbs compared to untrained controls," said one study.

3. Her Workouts Are Intense

When Brie hit the gym, she proves that women can kick butt. The actress is famous for her seriously intense workout sessions, which include things like sled pushing massive amount sof weight, deadlift, and even picking up cars. “Hey, Siri - play "Push it" by Salt-N-Pepa,” she captioned a post of one of her sled pushing sessions.

4. She Does Jason Walsh’s Rise Nation Workout

“Even after years of training, I still try to find ways to get out of working out. Luckily @risemovement keeps me motivated by prefacing a new move with ‘this will be fun,’” Brie captioned one of her Instagram posts. She recently shared her excitement when Rise Nation opened up in New York. “New Yorkers, my favorite work out just came to your city!!! @risenation 🥰 Congrats @risemovement - you make getting strong fun!” she captioned a post.

5. She Stretches

"Stretching is a huge part of exercise," Brie schooled everyone in a YouTube video. Brie Larson, the Academy Award winning actress, aka Captain Marvel, is enjoying the summertime. Larson just posted a new set of photos on Instagram of herself doing different activities. In two of the photos, Larson is seen in a floral print bathing suit. She captioned the post, “Sometimes all you need is a sprinkler, a charcuterie board, a polaroid and friends!” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Brie Larson stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Works With Experts

To get in shape for Captain Marvel, Larson worked with a personal trainer. She enlisted trainer Jason Walsh. However, Walsh told POPSugar that he had some other experts work with Larson. "For the first phase of training, I send every client to my colleague and good friend, who is a registered dietitian and MD, and they do blood work," he explained.

2. She Lowered Her Body Fat

Brie Larson - 92nd Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsP. Lehman / Barcroft Media via Getty Images

The main thing Walsh worked on with Larson was losing her body fat. He wanted her to lose fat and gain muscle. Walsh tells POPSugar that this was pretty easy for the actress. “It didn’t take us too long to get her where we wanted her body composition.”

3. She Ate Bridge Meals

CHANEL And Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Awards Dinner At The Polo Lounge In Beverly HillsJon Kopaloff/WireImage

Larson worked with Dr. Phillip Goglia on her diet for the film Room. He says that he had the actress eat “bridge meals” to help her prepare. "The purpose of a bridge meal is to get to lunch so that you don't overeat lunch,” Dr. Goglia explained to People. You're using fat metabolism and that will be your bridge meal to get to dinner so that dinner is an appetite environment that will not allow you to crave carbs because you've already eaten… you're kind of full. You're not in low blood sugar."

4. She Starts Her Days With Protein Shakes

51st NAACP Image Awards - ArrivalsSteve Granitz/WireImage

Larson starts her mornings with protein shakes. Dr. Goglia tells People that this helps her train harder in her morning sessions. “The most recent science has shown that a little bit of fat and a little bit of simple sugar will actually increase intensity rate while you train early in the morning … and allow you to still continue to train and burn fat,” Goglia says. “That really does start your engine for you.”

5. She Weight Trains

Larson does a lot of weight training to help her stay in shape. She posted this video of herself using a barbell on Instagram. In it, she is seen doing squats with one side of the weight in her hands. Larson captioned the video, “No toes were hurt in the making.” Here's how to do a bicep curl, for example: "To do a biceps curl with a barbell, pick up the barbell with your palms facing away from your body. Place your hands comfortably apart on the bar. This is usually about shoulder-width apart. Keep your back straight, and tighten your abdominal muscles. Slowly curl the barbell up by bending your elbows. Keep your elbows close to your body. Then slowly lower the barbell to the starting position. You'll feel tension in the muscles in the front of your upper arm," says the Mayo Clinic.

Brie Larson is thriving at 32 and has the body of a (literal) superhero. “What am I dancing to? Wrong answers only,” the Captain Marvel actress captioned an Instagram photo of herself looking fabulous in a bathing suit and cut-out crop top. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 7 ways Larson stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Weight Training

Larson isn’t afraid of lifting weights, and credits it with not only getting her into shape but with connecting to her Captain Marvel character. "A huge part of [Captain Marvel] is her strength," Larson told Entertainment Tonight. "I knew if I could go through that experience, I would get closer to her and I'd understand [her]." “We’re very familiar with the benefits of aerobic exercise like running, cycling or walking, but we haven’t focused on lifting and strength exercise. They’re seen on either ends of the spectrum – one makes you strong and muscular and one helps you live longer but that’s not true. The reality is the two, in terms of health benefits, overlap more than they differ,” says Dr. Stuart Phillips, a McMaster University professor in kinesiology and Canada Research Chair in skeletal muscle health.

2. She Loves a Little Fat and Sugar

Larson understands a balanced diet means not restricting or eliminating entire food groups, and would regularly eat almond butter and all-fruit jam or preserves for breakfast while filming Room. “The most recent science has shown that a little bit of fat and a little bit of simple sugar will actually increase intensity rate while you train early in the morning … and allow you to still continue to train and burn fat,” says Larson’s nutritionist Dr. Philip Goglia. “That really does start your engine for you.”

3. Hardcore Resistance Training

Larson challenged her fitness levels and pushed her body beyond what she thought was possible while training for Captain Marvel. "I affectionately called myself 'an introvert with asthma' before I got to play Carol Danvers and I started training first out of sheer panic, because I thought, 'Oh my gosh, Marvel doesn't know that I don't even know how to walk up a hill without being out of breath.’ So, I started this journey thinking I'll get strong and I had no idea. I went far beyond what I ever believed was possible for my body," she told Insider. "Being able to hip thrust 400 pounds, deadlift 200 pounds, push my trainer's Jeep, I mean, it's an incredible experience to realize what's inside of you is well beyond what you knew was possible."

4. She Started Slow and Built Her Way Up

"Marvel Avengers Campus" Opening Ceremony At Disneyland ParisLaurent Viteur/Getty Images)

Larson makes her workouts look effortless on Instagram—but it wasn’t always that way. "They don't realize that we actually started with all of these really fundamental, easy moves before we got to that point, and that's one of the reasons why we built so much resiliency and you were able to not get injured," says her physical therapist, Jason Walsh.

5. She Embraces Her Natural Beauty

92nd Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsSteve Granitz/WireImage

Larson typically plays roles that are powerful but not always glamorous. “I mean, a lot of the jobs that I've done have been characters that don't have makeup on,” Larson told Allure. “And that felt incredibly empowering to me. I remember someone asking me once, ‘How did they do your acne for Room? It looked so real.’ And I was like, ‘Oh no, those were just my zits.’ That was part of my growth and expression, saying, ‘This is who I am and this is what I look like.’”

6. She Loves To Scuba Dive

“I started scuba diving, and that became a whole new revelation as to how I get in and out of characters,” Larson told Allure. “You can't just dive into the ocean. You have to have a plan. You have to understand the process of going down and then the process of coming back up, and you have to allow air for that.” "Scuba diving allows one to target specific muscle groups particularly in the legs, glutes, core and back while maneuvering through a medium that is hundreds of times more dense than air,” says Theresa Kaplan, director of communications for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). “To move efficiently through the water, a diver learns to streamline their body—engaging core, glute and back muscles—and kick from the hip, as opposed to from the knee to glide through the water. Let’s also not forget the out-of-water benefits of diving. Lifting scuba tanks, weights and other dive equipment can be comparable to many weight lifting exercises.”

7. She Loves To Use Oils

CHANEL And Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Awards Dinner At The Polo Lounge In Beverly HillsJon Kopaloff/WireImage

Larson is a big fan of using oils as part of her beauty regimen. “To wash my face, I might use coconut or olive oil,” she says. “When I used to travel and do pressers and things and I didn't want to bring tons of products, I would just ask the hotel for olive oil. Oil my face, hot towel. [I found out about cosmetics brand] Decorté over a year ago when they just sent products and asked me to try them out. I really liked them, and it seemed that we both liked each other, and so they asked me to come on board and be this ‘brand muse,’ which is surreal for me. I just never thought that I would be the face of a beauty brand.”

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
