When it comes to her diet, Burke says that she tries to eat as healthy as she can, and practices this form of eating. “I intermittent fast, so I don’t eat breakfast,” Burke told HollywoodLife. “I’ll wake up and do coffee or a black tea. Sometimes I do bulletproof coffee, where I’ll put in the butter and the heavy cream, which I think is really good.” “Intermittent fasting currently is a popular trend in dieting. There are several fasting methods people employ for weight loss. Some dieters decrease the amount of time they eat each day to, for example, only six hours in a 24-hour period. Others fast every other day. Another approach is called the 5:2 diet, which involves gradually decreasing daily calories to the point that you're only consuming 500 calories a day for two days each week,” says the Mayo Clinic.

Burke tells HollywoodLife that she makes sure to incorporate a lot of healthy fats into her daily diet. “We need fat, it’s all the things that we were trained not to do that really feed our brain and our skin, our hair. I do eat a lot of fat but I am pretty conscious of what I eat, I don’t eat processed food really at all.” Fill yourself up with lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and healthy fats like olive, canola, avocado and walnut oils, plant-fat rich foods like avocados and olives, and nut and seed butters like peanut butter, almond butter and tahini.

3. She Does Quick, But Intense At-Home Workouts

Burke is a wellness maven, and she even has her own workout app, Brooke Burke Body. She tells HollywoodLife that her app is based on the workouts she does at home. She also says that she does a lot of quick, intense at-home workouts, and she no longer has to go to the gym. “I started my fitness app a year and a half ago. You can do 10 minute workouts, which I know sounds silly but you can really do 10, 15 minute, 20 minute workouts, you can decide what you want to do and you work out intense, you get an after burn. The days you go into the gym spending an hour in there, for me are long gone. I feel like I am in better shape in my 40s than I was before. It is just understanding the body.”

Burke tells HollywoodLife that one of her biggest health and wellness secrets is staying hydrated each day. She says that she always makes sure to drink enough water, and carries it with her at all times. “I drink water all the time, I have water in my car, water by my bed, water bottle in my purse, always. I just think that we need it.”

She says that she tries to eat as healthy as she can, and eats a variety of different foods. “It depends on my schedule but when you are intermittent fasting life gets really simple because you are really only doing two meals a day and if I need to snack, I snack, but I kind of eat consciously, so I’ll do fish, lean protein a lot of soups, lots of vegetables, I love spicy food, avocados, olive oil, a lot of nuts. I eat a lot of macadamia nuts, which are super fatty. I always have a little snack packs in my car. A typical dinner could be a filet mignon, a salad and grilled vegetables. I eat a lot of sushi. I love Mexican food.”

Colby is an accomplished underwater swimmer. "Every time I go for a swim I feel like the earth and my incredible swim colleagues have enabled me to have experienced something pretty amazing," says Dr Jenny Martin, a physician and clinical pharmacologist at the University of Newcastle. "You get a release of hormones that make you feel good, like the molecules that are in morphine drugs, and other feel-good hormones like serotonin, dopamine. After an ocean swim in winter, you sometimes get a temporary natural high when you get out … definitely a euphoric feeling."

2. Paddle Boarding

Colby shares her adventures with paddle boarding on her social media. “I had a breakthrough today with @rinconpaddleboards I have never been able to root myself properly for longer duration. I could get up but it didn’t last long,” she says. “Damiano took the time during our private lesson to break down every detail of what’s happening on the board, in the water and in my body and how to respond for more stability. I have a long way to go and needs to stay lower and work on arm placement but I felt so happy with today’s lesson🎉 I always Learn so much.”

3. She’s a Dancer

Colby is a professional dancer, something she says changed her life from day one. “I discovered Burlesque in Chicago quite some time ago, years and years ago- I was addicted from the first show,” she says. “There’s something very empowering about Burlesque. I started learning right away, I started performing way too soon! There’s some great video footage to prove that. But it’s all been a really fun journey, even watching old videos, it’s cool to see how much more at ease I am with myself and with my audience. But it’s funny, I have maintained the same lumbering stance since I started. There’s nothing delicate about me on stage, I just throw my guts out there and then I walk away and let people sort out what they saw.”

Colby says giving back to the community is one of the best ways to gain happiness and confidence. “My advice, for what it’s worth… If you’re trying to gain or regain confidence, don’t do it through Burlesque,” she says. “Help in your community, educate yourself, travel, find where your real strength lies.”

Colby is famous for her many tattoos, something she considers a “storyline” for her life. “I don’t think I took collecting tattoos seriously at first,” she says. “I mean my first tattoo was an LBT tribal tramp stamp of a butterfly…Ha! I have definitely acquired some more impressive tattoos since then but I collect them for the story. I’m not afraid of people judging the work I have on my body, it’s a storyline for myself. I love it when my friends work on me, I love to collect the memories, I cannot have an artist work on me that I don’t feel close with. I have to feel a sense of kinship I’ve been very fortunate to find that across-the-board with my tattoo artists.”

I have my coffee in bed. She shared her recipe to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. “My first meal of the day after intermittent fasting is a shake that is full of everything I need from good fats, MCT oil, Tru Niagen packets, collagen powders, almond butter cinnamon for anti-inflammatory properties, peptides, etc. I basically put everything I need into one shake, and that’s it. It’s that simple.”

I believe it’s beneficial for hair, skin, nails and joints.” "As you age, your body's fluid reserve becomes smaller, your ability to conserve water is reduced and your thirst sense becomes less acute. These problems are compounded by chronic illnesses such as diabetes and dementia, and the use of certain medications. Older adults also can have mobility problems that limit their ability to obtain water for themselves," says the Mayo Clinic. "Increasing your water intake may seem easy, but it can be hard to remember to drink up."
