She Gets Enough Sleep
In a YouTube video, Chhavi detailed her approach to health. According to Mittal, not getting proper sleep is a huge "culprit" that "disrupts" weight loss. "If we do not sleep well, no matter what we do, or how much attention we pay to exercise and food, our body's metabolism won't increase. Your food won't get digested easily and the body will start storing fat."
She Keeps Stress to a Minimum
Chhavi also keeps her stress to a minimum. "When our stress level increases, the cortisol level, the fight-or-flight hormone, in our body also increases. Our body starts believing that there's something very wrong happening and it goes into a survival mode. Immediately, the body starts holding on to fats, stops digesting the food because the body is gearing up for that survival mode and this in turn leads to a decline in metabolism," she explained in the video.
She Doesn't Skip Meals
Mittal maintains that "disruptive eating" is a dietary no-no. She maintains that skipping meals results in disordered eating and isn't good for metabolism. "Basically, you have starved yourself," she says.
She Doesn't Count Calories
Chhavi doesn't count calories, pointing out that lower-calorie foods aren't necessarily healthier. "If an apple has 50 calories and diet soda has 0, you need to still prefer an apple over the latter. Stop counting calories and start eating healthy," she said.
She Meditates
Chhavi is a big fan of meditation. "Even if you don't know how to meditate, just shut your mind and focus on breathing. Don't think about work, children, or anything else. Sit with yourself for at least 5 minutes every day," she said.
She Exercises
Chhavi also makes sure to move. "A little bit of exercise every day is important," she said. Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. Each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle-strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
