She Snacks On Watermelon
Watermelon is one of Suárez's go-to snacks. "Watermelon is a naturally low-calorie package," says Christina Meyer-Jax, RDN, LDN, Standard Process nutrition chair and assistant professor at Northwestern Health Sciences University. "It contributes key antioxidant nutrients that support disease prevention and overall wellness."
She Waterskis
Suárez enjoys water sports such as waterskiing. "Exercising outdoors increases our exposure to sunlight, enhancing vitamin D production, which has been linked to improving mood, promoting bone health, boosting immune system function and reducing inflammation," says Cedric X. Bryant, PhD, FACSM.
She's a Vegetarian
Suárez sticks to a vegetarian diet. "A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check," says Harvard Health. "Eating non-starchy vegetables and fruits like apples, pears, and green leafy vegetables may even promote weight loss. Their low glycemic loads prevent blood sugar spikes that can increase hunger."
Horseback Riding
Suárez loves horseback riding. "Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure," according to the National Institutes of Health. "Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood."
Face Masks
Suárez likes to maintain her beautiful skin with the occasional face mask. "Homemade masks are easy to prepare and can be very relaxing when used while you're taking a bath," says Lana Storchak from the spa at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto. "But before using any homemade facial masks, always test it on another small part of your skin (such as your forearm) to ensure that you don't have any allergies."
