She Sucks Down Smoothies
Christina is a big fan of smoothies, generally having multiple a day as part of a meal or snacks. "I meal prep my smoothies; I cut up all the ingredients except milk and put in plastic baggies in the freezer or fridge and just throw them and milk in the blender when I'm ready. So it literally takes 5 minutes and I have a full meal," Christina said.
She Allows Herself a Chance to Slow Down
She noticed her workouts were getting a little too intense for her overall well-being. "You don't need to work out for hours at a time every day to see great results; your body knows best when it comes to choosing what type of exercise to do; and exercise isn't just about physical transformation." She takes some of the intensity away by walking or doing some low impact workouts like yoga. "Since I started scaling back, I have felt way better. I still get the benefits of exercise — mental and physical — and even though I'm working out way less often and with less intensity, I still wear the same size clothes," says Christina.
She Practices Intuitive Eating
It's easy to get on such a schedule with eating that you don't even know how to listen to your body anymore. When you're hungry, eat. When you're indulging, be mindful and taste your food…slow down and appreciate the flavors. Christina pays attention to when her body is hungry and when she's full, also keeping healthy foods on standby prepped in her fridge like chopped veggies and meals. Mindful eating is an incredible skill to practice and further develop overtime.
She Includes Healthy Fats In Her Diet
Christina prioritizes including healthy fats into her meals. The heart healthy fats help to create a balanced diet and are often great sources of fiber and protein, like you find in avocados. Some of the food she includes are lean meats, dairy, avocados, seeds, nuts, and healthy plant oils.
She Looks For Support In Her Workouts
During an interview with Country Living, Christina said that in addition to spending time outdoors and running, she began taking Orangetheory Fitness classes, too. Orangetheory focuses on blending cardio workouts with strength training in small class sizes while dialing in on your heart rate. "It's an awesome workout, super hard and intense, and I noticed a huge change in my body from that," Christina said.
