She Starts Her Day With Both Veggies and Fruit
"In terms of diet, I make an effort to eat seasonal, locally organic grown fruit and vegetables, which are free from pesticides, and meat and dairy from organic farms like Daylesford. My treats are chocolates and every once in a while, a great red wine or my favourite Léoube Rosé," she tells Vogue. "Compared with conventionally grown produce, organically grown produce has lower detectable levels of pesticide residue. Organic produce may have residue because of pesticides approved for organic farming or because of airborne pesticides from conventional farms. The difference in health outcomes is unclear because of safety regulations for maximum levels of residue allowed on conventional produce," says the Mayo Clinic.
These are Some of Her Health Secrets
"When I started to have kids, I tried to be as healthy as possible and by doing so I feel my best today in my body and in myself overall. I workout by doing something different every day from tennis or a yoga class, to a 15-minute abs class online or walking on the treadmill for an hour while watching a movie. I use organic, natural skincare products from Bamford. I also love Epsom salt baths, meditating using the Calm app and lighting up candles like Baies by Diptyque," she tells Vogue.
She Loves Walking
Schiffer says to the Khaleej Times that she exercises "as much as possible," however, she does prefer slower-paced exercises as opposed to intense ones. One of Schiffer's favorite ways to work out is walking. "I prefer to walk even when it's very cold…I try and do as much as possible to relax my body, my face," she says. "A 150-pound person walking a mile in 20 minutes will burn about 80 calories. If you're heavier, you torch more calories because it takes more energy to move more mass. Likewise, the count is lower if you weigh less," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Does Yoga
Schiffer is also a big fan of practicing yoga, and says it helps her relax. "I work on my breathing too, thanks to yoga… I like having stress-free breaks," she tells the Khaleej Times. "Yoga can make a big difference in your life by," says the Cleveland Clinic:
- "Decreasing stress
- Reducing chronic pain
- Enhancing immune response
- Lowering blood pressure
- Improving posture and body alignment
- Increasing muscle strength
- Providing a sense of joy and well-being."
She Switches Up Her Workouts
Schiffer tells Vogue that after having her children, she wanted to improve her health and be as fit as she could be. Schiffer says that a big part of her fitness routine is variety, and she likes to do different workouts. "I workout by doing something different every day from tennis or a yoga class, to a 15-minute abs class online or walking on the treadmill for an hour while watching a movie."
She Takes Care Of Her Skin
Being a supermodel, Schiffer naturally knows a lot of beauty secrets and tricks, and she also has to take care of her skin. She tells Vogue that she uses organic skin products, and makes skincare a priority, as it helps her mental health. "It's really important to take time for yourself for your mental health and wellbeing, but also the key to having good skin and slowing the signs of ageing. So not a 'trick' as such but having spent years on photoshoots with make-up being taken on and off, I learnt from a young age how important it is to take care of your skin. I've always been rigorous about cleansing and using natural skincare products that nourish and fortify your skin, which is why as I turn 50 my skin feels better than ever," she tells Vogue.
