Pedroche says protein and vegetables are her go to for a healthy, delicious diet. “People think that healthy food eats badly, it eats without taste, it eats boring … not at all,” she says. “Eat healthy, you can eat very tasty and very healthy. When I talk about nutrition, I talk about protein and vegetables… The key is protein and vegetables, they always work.”
2. Grilled Fish and Broccoli

Pedroche loves it when her chef husband David Muñoz cooks for them. “If David is at home during the week, he makes me a little fish … the grilled fish is incredible, not boiled and bland,” she says. “People have to start using a lot of spices, and suddenly that tastes like something else. You add a little spice to cooked broccoli and it is already delicious.”
3. Resistance Training

Pedroche has regular resistance training sessions at the gym. “We all know resistance training is good for us, and there are so many reasons to add it to your exercise routine,” says Accredited Exercise Physiologist Jacinta Brinsley. “Some people do it to build muscle. Others, to reach a goal, like being able to pick up our grandkids. Maybe, it’s your way just to relax. Whatever your reason, you deserve a big pat on the back just for doing it!”
4. Collagen Supplements

Pedroche takes collagen supplements, which benefit both appearance and health. “Collagen benefits your joints, tendons, and ligaments by allowing them to glide and move with ease — much like how oil benefits a car!” says Amy Myers, MD. “With age, and as your collagen production depletes, your joints can become stiff, swollen and painful, even causing a lack of mobility. Collagen contains the amino acids glycine and proline, which help to support joint mobility and a healthy inflammatory response.”
5. She Practices Yoga
Pedroche practices yoga, which experts say benefits both physical and mental health. “The purpose of yoga is to build strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body,” says Natalie Nevins, DO, a board-certified osteopathic family physician and certified Kundalini Yoga instructor in Hollywood, California. “As an osteopathic physician, I focus a lot of my efforts on preventive medicine and practices, and in the body’s ability to heal itself. Yoga is a great tool for staying healthy because it’s based on similar principles. The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can lessen chronic pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome. Yoga can also lower blood pressure and reduce insomnia.”
