5. She Jumps Rope

WCC Fitness states that jumping rope has a lot of benefits. “Jump rope intervals have been proven to strengthen calf muscles and improve the elasticity of the surrounding tendons and fascia. Bethany Shadburne is breaking a sweat in her workout gear. In a new social media post the CrossFit athlete shows off her fit figure in a two-piece exercise set.“Superset weighted dips + landmine RDL 💪🏽🔥#dips #rdl #bodybuilding #accessorywork,” she captioned the Instagram video. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Sports From a Young Age

Bethany has been athletic from the start. “I got into fitness and working out at a very young age. I am the baby of four, and we were all very wild children! My mom put us all in swimming and soccer at first, and then at age five, I went into gymnastics,” she told O2 Hydration.

She Didn’t Take Care of Herself for Years

“The biggest change for me over the years is how I treat my body. When I was younger, I didn’t know how to take care of myself so that I could perform my best as an athlete. I just continually beat down my body without the right hydration and food, and I didn’t have a recovery routine. I went on crazy diets, and as a bodybuilder, I took fat burners and other junk that was really bad for me. I’ve battled a lot of GI issues as a result, and have worked hard to get my gut healthy. I’m really careful now about what I eat and drink,” she says.

Saunas

Bethany indulges in heat therapy.”I have really enjoyed sitting in the sauna lately so I will do that post workout and stretch in there for about 20-30 min. I also enjoy my Hyperice tools a lot! And, of course, I do foam rolling as necessary,” she added. Should you take a dry sauna? While some claim the health benefits of saunas are plentiful, including detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation, there isn’t a lot of research backing up the claims.

Hydration and Sleep

And, she drinks a lot of water. “I also focus on hydrating, drinking a minimum of one gallon of water and replenishing electrolytes with lots of O2. I choose healthy foods, but I don’t skimp on the carbs! Sleep is also really important for me - I get 8-10 hours of sleep a night,” she says. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

CrossFit, Naturally

“With CrossFit, I have truly learned how my body works and functions and how to be in tune with it. I think I now know when to push myself and when to back off; unfortunately, that only comes through years of experience of doing it wrong,” she told O2 Hydration. “My least favorite part of CrossFit is the one-rep maxes and heavy lifting. I have been working on them a TON, but the progress is slow. I know I have to go into damage-control mode when those workouts come up at competitions!”

Long Workout Sessions

Bethany spends a lot of time at the gym. “My workouts vary based on the season and competition ahead of me. When things are busy, I can spend 7-8 hours a day in the gym!” she says. “Right now, I work out six days a week, some days are doubles and some are triples! During my one day off, I focus on active recovery.”

Alethea Boon is sharing a new workout – in her exercise gear. In a new social media post the CrossFit athlete shows off her strong body and strength in a two-piece workout set. “BAR MUSCLE UP,” she writes in the Instagram video caption. “There are many ways to learn a skill, many drills for the same skill, and not everyone responds to learning the same drills that is where coaching comes in (I can help here) BUT the fundamental of skill acquisition remains the same: Foundational strength, progressive dills, keep building strength in those positions, continue drills and progress. Rinse and repeat, repeat, repeat.” How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. How She Found CrossFit

“I got into CrossFit in 2013 after searching on Google a different way to get fit. I had been doing a little bit of running by myself but needed some variety and wanted to work out with people. So, after googling CrossFit I went to my first class and fell in love with the methodology of CrossFit,” Alethea told True Protein on how she discovered the workout. “I had no intention of competing and looking back that worked in my favor. I honed in on technique with little to no weight for months before incrementally putting weights on the resistance exercises and barbells. Movement efficiency overload meant I was able to work good technique and keep pretty healthy as we built up slowly. I also attribute the patient build up in barbell work to the success and reason I was able to make a 3rd Commonwealth Games for NZ on the Weightlifting Team in 2018.:

2. 4 Days of Intense Training

Alethea trains hard. “A typical week consists of 4 days of planned training sessions approximately 2 hours, usually starting at 6pm where I follow a structured program typically consisting of Strength, Gymnastics or Bodybuilding and Conditioning piece or 2. (yes have to move fast to get it all done withing 2-2.5 hours),” she told True Protein.

3. 1 Day of Flexible Training and 1 Rest Day

“I also do one additional day where I like to keep flexible with what I do. It’ll be something I really enjoy, like jump in a class, calisthenics, swim, go for a run or bike or even try something new to keep the mind fresh and excited about moving in different ways. Then there’s always a solid rest day to allow the body to recover,” she told True Protein.

4. Structured Sessions

What does a typical workout look like for Alethea? “I structure my sessions according to what needs the most work. But most structured sessions usually follow this outline. Prehab and Strength is where I spend majority of my time over other biases because let’s be honest, I’m 40, I need the prehab and strength is my weakness, so we make it a priority. Then a short 10minute-15min gymnastics or body building piece for maintenance followed by conditioning piece or 2. I like to do one that stings, short and fast 3-6mins, followed by one slightly longer piece that has me breathing and sweating for 15-20mins. I would absolutely love to be able to do more but we make do with the time that we have and really maximize every minute to focus in on what will get me the most return in a competition setting,” she says.

5. Fueling Up with Food

Alethea makes sure to get enough food in her body for her workouts. “Food is fuel! Adequately getting enough, and enough of the right stuff is key to being able to perform both in and out of the gym. I admit as a busy mum I often tend to forget to eat at times because I am always on the go and on those days and the day after I really feel the lack of energy so being sure to prepack and plan meals and supplements around training to support my lifestyle is crucial to ensure that performance in training is fully optimized,” she explains.

Professional CrossFit athlete Dani Speegle constantly challenges the limits of physical fitness, and she uses her substantial Instagram following to share glimpses of her rigorous regimen. Known for her intense competition routines and favorite workout sessions, Speegle recently captured attention with a striking set of photos at a competition, boldly captioning it, “Commit to the bit.”

She Lifts Weights

One thing Speegle does to keep herself in shape is lift weights. She shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself lifting weights. Speegle included a photo of herself lifting a barbell from a competition in this post. ACE Fitness states that lifting weights has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

She Jumps Rope

Speegle shared this reel on Instagram of herself doing different exercises at a competition. One thing she is seen doing is jumping rope. Piedmont states that doing this can improve your coordination. “Jump rope exercises improve your foot coordination and help you focus on your feet. It also strengthens the muscles surrounding your foot and ankle joints, and it can help decrease foot and ankle injuries.”

She Does Lunges

Dani Speegle does lunges during CrossFit games.

Speegle is also seen doing lunges in her Instagram reel. According to ACE Fitness, lunges have a lot of health benefits. “Lunges work the biggest muscles in your lower body — mainly the quadriceps, gluteus maximus, and the adductor magnus (the muscle in your inner thigh). Other muscles that come into play are the hamstrings, gluteus medius, calves, and core stabilizers, says Susane Pata, content strategist for the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and NASM-certified personal trainer based in Miami.”

She Does Core Workouts

Dani Speegle does core work during CrossFit games.

Speegle is also seen doing core workouts in the previous Instagram reel. Core workouts are very important. According to The Mayo Clinic, “Your core is the central part of your body. It includes your pelvis, lower back, hips and stomach. The stomach muscles sometimes are called abs. Core exercises train the muscles in your core to work in harmony. This leads to better balance and steadiness, also called stability. Stability is important whether you're on the playing field or doing regular activities. In fact, most sports and other physical activities depend on stable core muscles.”

She Hikes

Speegle likes to hike to keep herself in shape. She shared these photos on Instagram of herself hiking in Sicily. Speegle captioned the post, “Just a constant battle to try and not say ‘I like that boulder…..that’s a nice boulder…’ whenever I look out at a view 🫏” Harvard Health states that hiking has a lot of benefits. “A number of small studies hint that spending time in green space — nature preserves, woodlands, and even urban parks — may ease people's stress levels. Giving the growing consensus that stress contributes to high blood pressure and heart disease risk, anything you can do to mitigate stress is likely helpful.”

Kerly Ruiz is training her legs – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post the fitness personality shows off her amazingly fit figure during an exercise session. “Workout of the day!! Here I leave you today's exercise for quadriceps!!” she captioned the Instagram post. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Here's What She Eats in a Day

Kerly shared a sample day of eating, starting with breakfast: 3 egg whites and 1 whole egg

30g of oats or 1/2 potatoes. Next up, a snack, a protein shake and 2 small Colombian potatoes. Then, for lunch she has 140g chicken with 100g rice and a green salad. For a snack she has 90g shrimp and zucchini vegetable pasta. And finally, for dinner she has 110g of fish with 1 egg and green salad.

Intermittent Fasting

In order to “lose weight, burn fat and get super fit” Kerly intermittent fasts, which she calls her eating method. Intermittent fasting works by “prolonging the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat,” explains Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Low Carb Diet

Kerly is on a low carb diet, she told El Estimulo, revealing she only eats “light” sandwiches. “I try not to eat a lot of bread because it makes my belly bigger, but when I can, I use whole wheat bread. I try to combine it with protein, which is very important to maintain muscle. I like to put some dressings that give flavor to the sandwich so that the diet is pleasant and I don't get bored,” she says. “Olives, avocado, olive oil, alfalfa, whole wheat toast, a grilled chicken breast and a little mustard, because it's the only dressing that doesn't have calories. No mayonnaise, no tomato sauce.”

She Counts Calories

“My diet only allows me a low-calorie sandwich, between 150 and 180 calories, which could be eaten mid-morning - I eat 6 times a day - because you can't eat carbohydrates at night. I try to find the right flavors, since I live on a diet. I put a little bit of what I have at home, avocado, which even though it has fat, it's the good kind, tomato too, so to speak, you can't overdo it either, and olive oil, which is a good fat for the body, skin, hair and nails,” she added.

No Mayo

One ingredient that she would never put in a sandwich? “Mayonnaise because I think that first of all it's greasy for the skin, it gives you acne and secondly it goes to your belly, your rolls. I don't like mayonnaise at all,” she said.

Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”
