She Follows The 3-2-1 Diet
According to Johnson's trainer, Ramona Braganza, the actress has followed the "3-2-1 Diet", especially while filming the 50 Shades films. Braganza describes Johnson's diet to Healthista saying, "It's just proportions, when to eat, smaller meals and more meals. If you're thinking breakfast, complex carbs like oatmeal and a poached egg are great. [I recommend] leaner meat and fish, salads, and definitely eating in a way that the food is grilled, not fried. Every now and then, you have that glass of wine, but you're not drinking a bottle of wine every night. You have to just moderate yourself."
She Focuses on Abs
Johnson's trainer, Ramona Braganza, says that Johnson likes to focus on ab workouts. "Abs, for her, were important," Braganza says to Cosmopolitan. "When she noticed her oblique muscles coming through, she was proud of that. She felt pretty confident." Braganza told Healthista that Johnson's ab workouts were "Pilates based" and included moves like lying leg and tricep extensions, oblique rotations, and walking planks.
She Focuses on Toning
Johnson likes to keep her body toned, and often does workouts that focus on toning. When working with Johnson during 50 Shades of Grey, trainer Ramona Braganza told Healthista, "Dakota was already was fairly lean, so it's not like there was weight to lose. She wanted to be more toned, and for toning, you definitely need resistance. You also need to just do it the right amount of time and intensity." Braganza also says that she adjusted her typical workout routine for Johnson. "I adjusted it to be more body weight and light weights, not much more than five pounds of weight, with more reps and intensity. That weight may not be light for some people, but holding them for a longer period of time trains the muscles, rather than tears them."
She Does Hot Yoga
Johnson is a fan of yoga, specifically hot yoga, and goes to classes regularly. "She'd sometimes take hot yoga classes on her own before or after shooting in addition to seeing me," her trainer, Ramona Braganza says of the actress to Cosmopolitan. Braganza also says to Healthista that the actress "did hot yoga on her own twice a week", while working on 50 Shades of Grey.
She Does Dance-Based Workouts
Johnson is a fan of toning, and she does a lot of dance-based workouts. Johnson's trainer, Ramona Braganza, tells Healthista, "It was more of a dancer type approach that I used. Much of our warm up was stretching, all dance-related." Braganza also revealed that the actress worked with a ballet coach as well.
