1. Make Healthy Living a Lifestyle

Danica doesn’t pick and choose when she is going to be healthy. "What I'm hoping is that people realize that this is a lifestyle," she said during an appearance on Good Morning America. "I want them to develop a good relationship with food and exercise to not be a reward or punishment but a way of life and something that makes you feel good and something that makes you a better you every single day."

2. Look at Food as Medicine

danica-patrick-flagDanica Patrick / Instagram

Danica believes that a healthy relationship with food starts with intention. "You are creating your life day by day with your thoughts. Think positive things. Believe in yourself. Have great reasons for why you're doing what you're doing," Danica dished to Fitness Reaper. "Eat good food because food is medicine. You're either adding to your well-being or reducing your well-being."

3. Eat Live a Cavewoman

On her website, Danica explains why she temporarily – and then permanently – switched to a Paleo diet. "Paleo is based on the idea that you only eat foods that were available to ancient man before the invention of agriculture. So no grains, no dairy, no beans or legumes, no added sugars or preservatives. Instead, you focus on naturally raised meats, vegetables, fruits, and nuts," she said. "My intention was to only do it for a week or two to reset my body with less sugar and more veggies. Well . . . I felt so good, and saw such amazing results, that I never quit."

4. Exercise Daily

In her book Pretty Intense, Danica details her approach to healthy living. The book is "not about driving, it's about becoming the best version of myself," she told athlete and podcaster Rich Roll. "The only thing that I would put toward being a better driver is that with the style of working out that I do, with the intensity level and competition at times, it makes you mentally stronger, and that translates" to driving competitions. She also details her exercise routine, which includes "7 workouts each week—upper body, lower body, abs, 3 interval cardio sessions, and one long circuit. They are all designed to be intense and over within about 20 min, except for the long circuit which will last about 30-45."

5. Drink Greens

Two,Green,Smoothie,With,Banana,And,Spinach,,Fresh,Herbs,OnShutterstock

Danica loves green smoothies. "I'll put three big handfuls of spinach in the blender, and only enough ice and water to get the spinach to make [the blades] spin," Patrick told Delish. "The colder the ingredients, the better, so I like to use frozen fruit." Then, she will add one-third of a banana and a quarter of an apple, “so it doesn't get too sugary,” per Delish and adds a lemon to “cut down on the drink's bitterness." "Take the seeds and skin off the lemon, and just toss it in," she says. "It really helps the flavor."

1. She Dances

Danica is a dancer, so it’s no surprise that she burns a lot of calories doing her thing. “Umm this is my kinda cardio baby, if this didn’t make you want to get up and join in I’ll be very disappointed,” she captioned a post, dancing in her bathing suit. Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

2. She Stretches

Danica makes sure to stretch. “With holidays on my mind and needing a little motivation here’s a little stretching montage I made In Mauritius before doing some dance fitness because who wants to run on a treadmill?? SO LAST YEAR!! I said I’d recreate my stretching from in the villa too so I guess your welcome. This is your reminder from Danica to stretch, some of you be looking hella stiff haha love ya,” she captioned another post. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

3. She Loves Herself

Danica is all about self-love. “Learn to love the skin you’re in! You are all beautiful in your own way, don’t let beauty standards, filters or anything make you think otherwise,” she told her fans in a post.

4. She Drinks Coffee

You can often find Danica recharging with a cup of coffee. Science continues to prove that drinking coffee is great for your health. In fact, a new 2022 study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that drinking two to three cups a day of most types of coffee – especially a mild to moderate intake of ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee – may protect you from cardiovascular disease and an early death.

5. She Hydrates

Danica makes sure to hydrate, drinking lots of water. "Even mild dehydration—as little as 2% fluid loss—can affect memory, mood, concentration, and reaction time. Adding just a few glasses of water to your daily intake can have a positive effect on cognition, stabilize your emotions, and even combat feelings of anxiety. This is especially important for older adults who are at higher risk for both dehydration and impaired cognitive function," says the National Council of Aging.

1. She Makes Working Out A Priority

Patrick shared some of her workout tips with USA Today. She says that fitness is a big priority in her life, and she makes sure to designated both times and places for it. “I would say that having a little bit of a schedule for your workout tends to get you doing it,” Patrick said. “So that’s helpful. Having a designated space to do it is also helpful if you’re doing it at home, so you have a purposeful place for it.”

2. She Pushes Herself

2023 Sports Illustrated Super Bowl PartyEthan Miller/Getty Images

Patrick tells USA Today that she likes to push herself with fitness. “While things are difficult, the amount of confidence you gain from being able to do it or accomplishing it, that seeps into so many other facets of your life,” she said. “You believe in yourself entirely — as opposed to just, ‘I can do that move.’ It’s now, ‘Oh, you need me to do that work? Sure, I got you.’ ‘Need me to do that? Sure, I got it.’ You tend to get more confident in your life, period, because you realize you can do it if you believe in yourself.”

3. She Adjusts Her Workouts Depending On Her Time

Patrick likes to adjust her workouts depending on how she feels, and how much time she has. “A couple years ago, I was at my parents house, and I did not feel like thinking of a workout that day,” she recalled to USA Today. “I was like, ‘I wanna workout, but what should I do? I’ll just do burpees.’ And I was going to do 1,000 burpees for time, and then I looked online and saw that takes over an hour, and I didn’t have an hour. So I was like, ‘I’ll do 500.’ And the only thing I stopped for was every 100, I jotted down the time it was on the clock, just to see what my intervals were. I’m pretty sure it took me 35 minutes.”

4. She Walks

Taylor Hill/FilmMagic

Patrick tells USA Today that she loves to walk to stay in shape. “If you are in one of those days and you’re just tired, or it’s cloudy out, or maybe you’re exhausted from traveling or from work or family or kids, just go for a walk,” Patrick said. “Honestly, I do that a lot. And I’ll go for an hour or an hour and a half, and I’ll take the dogs, and it’s great exercise from a low-intensity perspective. But you’re getting moving, and I think that’s the thing I’ll do if I’m bored or not energetic.”

5. She Loves Veggies

Patrick makes sure to eat healthy. And she also makes sure to eat a lot of vegetables. Patrick shared this photo on Instagram of herself enjoying a salad. She captioned the post, “Now this is a mountain of veggies! Arugula, tomato, beets, avocado, zucchini, onion, mushroom, kabocha squash, micro greens, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, and a homemade lemon tahini turmeric vinaigrette.”

1. She Meditates

Danielle is all about getting her zen on. “Meditation is to dive all the way within, beyond thought, to the source of thought and pure consciousness. It enlarges the container, every time you transcend. When you come out, you come out refreshed, filled with energy and enthusiasm for life,” she quoted David Lynch as saying in a recent post.

2. She Drinks

Danielle, who has been open about suffering from uterine fibroids, prioritizes her gut health. One way she does this is by drinking Kombucha.”I always understood the importance of probiotics but now more than ever I’m focusing on staying positive and being proactive with my healing. This is my personal experience so please follow your own journey based on your doctors recommendations. Each healing journey is unique,” she wrote.

3. She Swims

Danielle spends a lot of time swimming in the ocean. “Throwing it back to a sunny day in my favorite place,” she captioned a recent post. Swimming is a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity, the CDC says. Just two and a half hours per week of aerobic physical activity, such as swimming, bicycling, or running, can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses. In addition to the many physical benefits, there are multiple studies supporting the mental health benefits of swimming as well.

4. She Takes Baths

Danielle also shares a lot of photos of herself soaking in the tub. Baths, which have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression, are an easy way to interject self-care into your routine. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits.

5. She Paddleboards

Danielle enjoys paddleboarding in the ocean. “Soaking up ALL the energy from that big battery in the sky!” she wrote in the caption of a photo of herself out in the ocean. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and also a great form of cardio. The water sport can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140 pound male and 436 for a female the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”
