Colombian model Daniela Álvarez is celebrating her birthday on the beach. Álvarez, 35, shared some beautiful pictures of herself posing in the sand in a fuschia bathing suit, which perfectly matched the flowers in the background. “Thank God for another year of life, I promise to make it the most exciting adventure that can exist, with the good and not so good, I will always smile because the best gift you have given me is: LIFE! Thank you all for giving me so much love ❤️ #35 🎂 💃,” she captioned the post. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Álvarez stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Working Out With Prosthetic Leg

Álvarez has a prosthetic leg but continues to exercise and stay as active as possible. "Exercise hurts!! 😅 It's hard for us and it hurts more,” she says. “Without one leg it's more difficult to reach the floor, bend down, sit on the machines, stand up again, it's quite a challenge, now imagine not having two!”

2. Exercise For Mental Health

Álvarez works out for mental as well as physical health. "It teaches us discipline, patience, to handle frustration, but above all to have that mental strength that we need to never give up in the face of difficulty,” she says. “Thanks to exercise we will reach old age with the immense desire to walk until the last day of our lives.”

3. Mindful About Carbs

Álvarez is mindful of her starch intake before pageants and while training. “It is a healthy diet where every day I can eat flour and I can ‘sin’ once, maximum two times a week,” she says. “As my coach says: it is 80% work and 20% happiness to feel good and stable. The flour can go in the morning or at lunch, I decide what time to eat it. It's nothing heavy. Before being Miss Colombia I had not been managing a healthy diet like this, it has been a drastic change because all my life I have been a big eater and I never had to say 'no' to anything. I love sweets and desserts, I could eat a lot of flour a day without measuring carbohydrates.”

4. Swimming and Diving

Álvarez continues to enjoy swimming and diving. “One leg did for two all the time while diving. Sometimes I lost my balance because my weight was not equally distributed BUT (after the ‘but’ the most important thing always comes) I enjoyed it the same or more than before… Every day I learn something about my prosthesis!” she says. “I am lucky and I thank God very much for [my leg], it has 6 ways to do different activities, one of them is swimming.”

5. Skiing Trips

Álvarez has always loved skiing, and found a way to continue the sport with a prosthetic leg. “The biggest blessing is that I’m alive to fall as many times as it takes to make it!” she captioned an Instagram post. “Two months ago I got the call from Challenge Aspen, a global organization that has the best teams, teachers and sports adapted for different disabilities! They asked me if I wanted to ski again, do you know how long it took me to think about it, not two seconds! I said yes and here I am. I'll show you how it will be, sure twice as hard, but the truth is that I've never liked easy.”

"The amount of vitamin D your skin makes depends on many factors, including the time of day, season, latitude and your skin pigmentation. Sunscreen, while important to prevent skin cancer, also can decrease vitamin D production."

2. She Walks

Alba gets her steps in by going for walks. “Summary of my day yesterday✨ (part of my day) Taking a walk around here has no name… To all this, this trip has given me the anchovies with chips, it is literally what I have had for dinner the 3 days,” she captioned a recent Instagram post. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”
