In order to combat their eating disorder, Lovato says that they try not to fall into extreme dieting. Lovato said on the Pretty Big Deal podcast, “I’m tired of running myself into the ground with workouts and extreme dieting. Over the summer, they shared a post on Instagram talking about body positivity. They wrote, “I feel the sexiest in the bathtub w no makeup, no extensions, no lashes.. naked. Just me in my purest form. I don’t always feel comfortable in my skin/body so I’m beyond grateful that in these moments, when I’m most vulnerable I can feel beautiful & accept myself as is.”

3. They Love Martial Arts

Lovato is a huge fan of mixed martial arts and boxing. In fact, they have begun learning martial arts. They said to POPSUGAR, "My favorite workout is jiu-jitsu. I love training jiu-jitsu. 4. They Take Care Of Their Mental Health

Lovato has also been open about their struggles with their mental-health, like depression. Lovato believes that taking care of their mental health is extremely important. “I believe [self-care] is like a pyramid," they said to POPSUGAR. "There are three things that you need to feel great. There's physical fitness, nutrition, and mental health." Lovato continued, "I think it's important to take care of yourself emotionally and physically, but mainly emotionally, because if you’re not taking care of yourself emotionally, your mind can go to dark places. It's important to learn to love yourself for who you are, and accept yourself.”

5. They Stay Motivated

While Lovato says that they don’t want to fall back into extreme workouts again, they are still committed to staying fit. "Put on your clothes, do what you gotta do to get there, have some pre-workout or drink coffee . . . whatever it is! And when you're finally at the gym, you owe it to yourself to take care of your body. If you're feeling sluggish or like you don't want to work out, just remember what good it's going to do for your body and how great you're going to feel afterward."

Demi Lovato has been in the public eye since she was young and starred on Barney & Friends. Since then, she’s released top-charting songs and albums, and even hosted her own talk show. She also shared a bunch of new photos on Instagram. In one, she and her partner, Jutes, shared a kiss by the pool. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Demi Lovato stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Speaks Out

Demi,Lovato,Attends,The,World,Premiere,Of,"scream,Vi",AtShtterstock

Lovato talked about her life and career in an interview with GQ. In it, she talked about her decisions to speak out on different social issues and encourage her fans to vote. “When election season comes around, I will encourage people to get out and vote. It's the only way we can really make a difference. For example, it seems very important to me to help as much as I can to combat transphobia.”

2. She Wants To Be An Inspiration

Lovato has been open about her struggles with addiction, mental health, and body image. She tells GQ that she wants to help others who are going through the same thing. “It will be worth it as long as there are people who tell me that I am an inspiration to them, or that I have helped them learn more about themselves and feel more comfortable in their skin. That's the most meaningful thing to me.”

3. She’s Authentic

Lovato tells TODAY that she wants to share her authentic life with others. She says that she is working on her mental health and wellbeing in a healthy way, and that means embracing her lower days. “I don’t want to paint the facade that everything is totally perfect and fine. But I am in a really good place, and it has been kind of challenging to write a happy rock album. But I’m doing it! But I have bad days. I had a bad day on Sunday. I realized that even to this day, no matter how happy I might feel and seem. I’m human, and it’s okay to still struggle even when you’re in a great place.”

4. She Works With An Esthetician

Demi,Lovato,Wearing,Dress,By,Hellessy,Attends,The,2022,UnicefShtterstock

Lovato has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it. She works with esthetician Renee Rouleau to help her do so. Rouleau tells POPSugar that Lovato makes skincare a priority. "I just think it's unique that she's so committed to caring for her skin and making it a priority. All these years — even through the struggles of her personal life, which she has publicly spoken about, she was still seeing me. Putting in the work."

5. She Removes Makeup

Rouleau shared some of the skincare products Lovato uses with POPSugar. She says that the singer uses a vitamin C cleanser to remove makeup. “The proper removal for makeup is a double cleanser. I'll have her using the Vitamin-Infused Cleansing Emulsion ($36). A water-based cleanser is going to wash off really easily, but it's not going to grab makeup with it. You need something creamy to really dissolve that makeup off."

Read on to see 5 ways Demi Lovato stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Doesn’t Pressure Herself

Lovato tells Cosmopolitan that she doesn’t like to compare herself to others or feel pressure to look a certain way. “I've been on the internet for so long. I just had to realize that the images of people on social media who have the perfect hair, the perfect makeup, the perfect whatever—I just have to look at them and be like, 'Okay, that's great for them.' I have to ask myself like what's great for me and that looks totally different. I'm not going to fit the mold of what other people expect from me. I've never been that way, and I took a lot of pressure off of myself after spending so much time in the public eye and getting those comments that were hateful, and I just decided to take the pressure off myself.”

2. She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Lovato makes sure to take care of her skin. She shared her routine with Cosmopolitan. “Every day I have a diligent skincare routine where I use cleanser and a toner, then a day cream and an eye cream. Then at night, I use the same cleanser, same toner, a serum, a night cream and an eye cream. Twice a week, I also use a peel, a scrub, and a mask. I'm very, very strict [with it].”

3. She Takes Care Of Her Hair

Lovato also shared her haircare secrets with Cosmopolitan. “I use K18, and that's kept my hair really, really healthy. I also love Olaplex for the shampoo, but I am definitely trying to grow it out. I have a few extensions in the front right now, but I'm trying to get it as long as possible. I'll probably use hairpieces day-of, but I'm trying to keep it healthy [until then]. I'm keeping my skin in tip-top shape, and I'm doing the same with my hair. A part of me wants to go red again—like an orangier red—but I might wait until after the wedding.”

4. She Doesn’t Obsess Over Food

Lovato is open about her struggles with body image and an eating disorder. She revealed in this Instagram post that she is working on not obsessing over food and exercise. "I don't count calories anymore. I don't over exercise anymore. I don't restrict or purge. And I especially don't live life accordingly to diet culture.. and I've actually lost weight. This is a different experience, but I feel full. Not of food. But of divine wisdom and cosmic guidance.”

5. She’s All About Self-Care

Demi.LovatoDemi Lovato/Instagram

Lovato shared her favorite self-care practices with Cosmopolitan. “Self-care is really important to me. And it's about taking care of myself. Doing whatever makes me feel the healthiest—whether it's going on a walk or working out or taking a bath, getting a massage, whatever it is that I feel like is going to be the most beneficial to my self-love routine—is what I focus on. I used to be affected by the comments on social media when I was younger, and the way that I've tuned it out is realizing that my joy doesn't come from comments on the internet. It actually comes from real deep and meaningful connections to the people that I love and care about. So I spend more time with them, and I care less about what people say on the internet. I just know that my happiness doesn't stem from outside validation; it really stems from within.”

Sophie Guidolin Shares Workout Routine

Fitness expert Sophie Guidolin shares her intense workouts on Instagram, inspiring others to push themselves.

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Sophie Guidolin is a fitness expert and IFBB competitor. She shares a lot of her favorite workouts on her Instagram. In a recent video, she is seen doing pull-ups and RDLs with a barbell. Guidolin captioned the post, “Your self-worth comes on the backside of doing the work. Are you proud of your actions, when no one is looking? Do you say what you say you’re going to do?”

She Does Pull-Ups

Guidolin is seen doing pull-ups in her Instagram video. According to Gymless, this exercise has a lot of benefits. “Pull-ups can give size and strength to your upper body muscles. It allows you to target your lats, biceps, traps, and many more muscles. Practicing this consistently along with other variations that target different muscle groups, inevitably will give you the muscular aesthetics that you’re seeking. A study emphasized this by suggesting that this close kinetic chain exercise is designed to increase the muscular strength and endurance of the upper body and torso.”

She Lifts Weights

Sophie Guidolin lifting weights.

Sophie Guidolin/Instagram

Guidolin is seen using weights to workout in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that these exercises have a lot of benefits. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

She Does RDLs

Sophie Guidolin does RDLs.

Sophie Guidolin/Instagram

Guidolin is seen doing RDLs with a weight in her Instagram video. NASM states that the exercise is very beneficial. “A Romanian deadlift is a hip-hinge pattern that works the hamstrings and glutes. It is a form of deadlift with noticeably less bend in the knee, leading to greater hamstring engagement than traditional deadlifts.”

She Braces Her Core

Guidolin flaunts her abs

Sophia Goulding/Instagram

Guidolin has an impressive core. She shared her secrets behind it in the caption of this Instagram video. Guidolin revealed that she doesn’t do traditional core workouts, but braces her muscles when she lifts weights. “You’ve probably heard the advice: ‘Breathe in as you lower the weight and breathe out as you lift.’ But when it comes to heavy lifting, people don’t always do that. Instead, I focus on BRACING my core: ➡️ Take a deep breath, tighten your core, and hold your breath as you lift. After the lift, exhale quickly, take another breath, and repeat. This comes naturally - think about how you instinctively hold your breath and brace when lifting something heavy at home. Bracing is especially helpful for big compound lifts, like squats and deadlifts. It’s also great for bodyweight exercises like push-ups and planks, helping you stay strong, stable, and in control. Observe your bracing and see what kind of difference it makes. 🫶”

She Does Squats

Sophie Guidolin does squats

Sophie Guidolin/Instagram

Guidolin likes to do squats to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing them with a barbell. Guidolin captioned the post, “First time under a the bar low bar in a low time and heaviest/highest volume back squatting since 2019. Felt easy. Flew up. Tried not to over commit to the goal and stuck to my numbers. I had 27 minutes exactly to train. 🫣🤯🥵yes, 27 minutes. 👀 school holidays and the twins in my care means I never want to impact my time with them, so this is what had to be done…

That included: 6 sets low bar back squats. 3 sets hip thrusts 150kgs, mind you 🥵👀. Adductor machine. Lying leg curl. Cable pull throughs. And hit my numbers on every single set, meaning I am either taking the piss normally, or dragging my feet. No excuses, just awareness. I seem to perform better under pain, that all too familiar pattern bias is strong 🥵👀🥺 My goals this year scare me, but not as much as failing. 🫶🏼✔️ go all in.”

Abby spends lots of time at the gym strength training with a personal trainer. Her routine includes squats, lunges, rows, planks, and lifting heavy weights. She regularly shares workouts in her Instagram Stories and has a tab devoted to them. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Jump Roping

She also jump ropes. “My type of cardio,” she captioned an Instagram Story clip. “Not only can the repetitive movement of skipping rope elevate your heart rate, work muscles in the arms and legs and burn calories, it may even provide a quick jolt of joy,” says Nike.

Biking

Abby Dowse rides a stationary bike

In another Instagram Stories clip, she cycles on a stationary bike. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is excellent for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis

Coffee

Abby enjoys the perks of caffeine. She loves coffee. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Sauna

Abby is all about the heat. She enjoys hot saunas. “Sauna got me good 💦😅💯,” she captioned a post. Should you take a dry sauna? While some claim the health benefits of saunas are plentiful, including detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation, there isn’t a lot of research backing up the claims.

Strength training is Antje’s go-to workout. “I lift weights 4 or 5 days a week. I focus on one or two muscle groups at a time and make sure to alternate them so they have time to recover throughout the week,” she says. “I lift for about an hour.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Antje gets a lot of use out of the treadmill. “Before I lift I warm up by walking at an incline for 5-10 minutes,” she says. “And I always end my workout with running in intervals for 5-10 minutes.” Walking on an incline burns more calories than walking fast or even running on a flat surface, so many experts suggest upping your incline. A 2013 study even found that walking on a 2 to 7 percent incline increased heart rate by almost 10 percent compared to running on a flat surface.

SoulCycle

Another workout she loves? Cycling. “I also Soul Cycle 3 times a week, which is my new obsession,” she revealed. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is excellent for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.

“My diet is pretty laid back. If I have something big coming up I’ll obviously be more strict on myself but it’s also hard when you have my lifestyle and travel a lot. I try to eat as healthy as I can on a regular basis though. I always make sure to eat a lot of protein, mainly chicken and other lean meats. I also make sure to drink plenty of water!” she told Women Fitness. Why should you focus your meals around protein? According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.
