Welch is open about her struggles with her depression. She notably decided to record herself during an episode, and opened up about her decision to do this on 5 News. "You can't see depression," she says. "That's why it's such a crippling, isolating, frightening, debilitating condition, because it's invisible, you can't see it."
She Uses LighterLife
Welch opened up about changes she has made to her health to Express. She says that after she quit drinking, she replaced alcohol with food, which led to weight gain. Welch says that she decided to use the LighterLife plan to help. "I knew that this was something I wanted to do for life because I was potentially going to destroy my life with an eating disorder."
She Horseback Rides

Welch talked about her approach to eating to GoodTo. She says that she is mindful of what she puts in her body. "I now stop and think before I eat. I find it helps to ask myself, 'Are you really hungry, or are you just fed up, tired or stressed?' This helps me catch myself from falling into unhelpful eating patterns."
