Welch also told Good.to that the LighterLife program has helped her become a lot more mindful about food. "I now stop and think before I eat," she says. "I find it helps to ask myself, 'Are you really hungry, or are you just fed up, tired or stressed?' This helps me catch myself from falling into unhelpful eating patterns."

She Has Fasting Days

Welch is a fan of what she calls "fasting days." She explains this concept to new! Magazine, saying, "A fasting day is when you just eat four LighterLife meals. It works for me because I don't count calories and every meal has all your vitamins and minerals. I feel better physically and mentally than I did in my twenties and thirties."

One of the biggest criticisms of fad diets is that they don't build healthy habits after people meet their goals. However, Welch tells Good.to that she has not fallen into that process. "Once you have reached your goal weight there is a tendency to think, 'I've lost the weight. Job done, I can go back to eating normally'. Wrong! The only successful way to keep the weight off is to continue with the same thought processes as before when you were on a strict diet."

5

She's Cautious Of Her Portion Sizes

One of the healthy habits that Welch has built over the years is watching her portion sizes. She tells Good.to, "Watching what you eat and your portions sizes will help you learn a healthier way of eating, and how to deal with the urge to binge eat or overeat."
