Snowboarding
Domelipa enjoys winter sports such as snowboarding. "Simply being outside in nature can help de-stress us, since it has been shown to lower salivary cortisol, one of the biomarkers of stress," says Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller, M.D. "Research has also suggested that just five minutes in nature is all it takes for our brain to start thinking differently and for us to experience a more relaxed disposition."
Dancing
Domelipa loves dancing, which is a great way to get some cardio in while having fun. "Dancing can give you more than traditional cardio," Fabio Comana, an exercise physiologist and education team member for the National Academy of Sports Medicine, told HuffPost. "If exercise is not an enjoyable experience, we're not going to do it. People think, 'I'm not exercising, I'm dancing'. But at the end of the day, you're moving and you're burning calories. It's just as good as a cardio class."
Hitting the Gym
Domelipa hits the gym on a regular basis. Even just making a point to take a walk every day can make a difference to your health, experts say. "This removes an all-too-common tendency to rationalize not working out by convincing yourself that you'll do it tomorrow instead," says trainer Josh Bonhotal, CSCS. "Stringing together workouts on a daily basis can help you gradually ramp up their intensity and difficulty over time, leading to even greater results."
Skydiving
Domelipa isn't afraid to try new things—such as skydiving! "The sense of achievement you get completing a tandem skydive is amazing," says Carl Griffiths, Marketing Manager at GoSkydive. "There is a reason a tandem skydive is part of lots of peoples bucket lists. Our guests always say it's the best thing they have done."
World Travel
Domelipa loves to travel around the world and have adventures. "Travel itself can be a break from stressors piled up back home; a literal escape where you can focus on your own pleasure and yourself can be a welcome change of pace, and help reduce your body's stress hormone overdrive," says Jean Kim MD. "Even when you return to stressors back home, the memories encoded by travel help maintain a 'zen space' you can revisit whenever you need. Mindfulness techniques often recommend returning to a beautiful or peaceful memory to help restore calm and balance anywhere you are."
