She shared this photo of herself after a swim in Byron Bay. Calerco also posted this photo of herself wading in a pool, captioning it, "Not Europe. Just Nelson Bay." Med India reports that spending time in the water can have a lot of mental health benefits. "Water is considered one of nature's best remedies for overcoming the stresses of everyday life. Spending time on the seaside and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine can produce serotonin, which is an important hormone associated with the feeling of happiness and relaxation."
She's Learning From Bad Situations
Calerco has been through a lot in her life. But she isn't letting those experiences break her. She tells Body & Soul that she learns from the bad experiences she's had. "I think the hardest thing was the social isolation, the form of bullying that I guess adults put on each other, that was really hard," she says. "I learnt a lot from the hard parts and I'm just lucky that I came out of it a stronger person."
She Takes Care Of Her Mental Health
Calerco is open about her struggles with her mental health. "I've been on antidepressants for maybe 10 years and I've been diagnosed with anxiety and depression disorder," she explains to Body & Soul. "I have been since I was quite young, like probably 17 or 18, so over 10 years now. For me I've just learnt, and grown into myself – to know how to deal with it and know when to take the time and step away, have a moment for myself and when I need to remove myself from certain environments."
She's Opening Herself Up
Calerco tells Body & Soul that she is ready to open herself up to new experiences, including the world of dating. "Love can grow from friendship, can grow from different things and I've always been open to it. I need to get back into the dating scene. I think the post-MAFS experiment has been quite hectic, but I do need to put myself out there again and open myself up, in more ways than one."
She's No Longer Comparing Herself
Calerco likes to travel, and it has helped her take care of her mental health and wellbeing. On an episode of her podcast with fellow MAFS star Ella Ding, Calerco revealed that she is working on not comparing herself to others. She says that she's focusing on her life and what she needs to do. "I think that's the one thing travel has taught me: take care of yourself more [and] stop comparing. I need to just focus on me more and I don't think I was doing that for a really long time."
