She Overcomes Challenges One Step at a Time
When it comes to workouts, she takes things little by little. Think of training for a marathon, and starting with running a 5k. "We overcame it by tackling one hill at a time," her onetime trainer PMAC said, referring to Dua jogging up Primrose Hill in north London. "So instead of saying we're running up five (which is typical with all of my clients), we'd do one at a time, and she managed it."
Yoga Is A Daily Routine
She enjoys high intensity interval training to stay in shape in addition to yoga for strength training and muscle building. She even stated that yoga is a daily ritual for her, spending each day practicing how to quiet her mind and channel her muscles to build strength. Try a child's pose. "In a child's pose, you kneel and sit on your knees. Lean forward, bringing your arms in front of you with your palms down, and keeping your buttocks on your heels. Rest your forehead on the floor. Bring your arms next to your legs with palms facing up. Inhale and exhale for at least eight breaths," says St. Clair Health.
She Knows The Importance of Rest
Napping and getting enough sleep is so important. She listens to her body and lets herself rest and recover when necessary. "For a busy individual like Dua, I suggested naps to help her body recover," PMAC said. "If you train too much, your body won't work, so rest is a non-negotiable."
She Warms Up Her Body
Dua has had the importance of warming up engrained in her since working with PMAC. "We'd spend 10 minutes before every session to make sure her joints and muscles were ready," PMAC explains. Warm ups will also improve your mobility which, in turn, could help you achieve your goals sooner.
She Enjoys HIIT Workouts
Dua loves the efficiency of HIIT sessions. "It's so quick, it's over before it's even started!" she says. Dua and PMAC like to include mountain climbers, burpees, jumping jacks and more into her routine. "Most endurance workouts, such as walking, running, or stair-climbing—are performed at a moderate intensity, or an exertion level of 5-6 on a scale of 0-10. High-intensity intervals are done at an exertion level of 7 or higher, and are typically sustained for 30 seconds to 3 minutes, although they can be as short as 8-10 seconds or as long as 5 minutes; the higher the intensity, the shorter the speed interval. Recovery intervals are equal to or longer than the speed intervals," says ACE Fitness.
