1. She Picks The Outdoors Over The Gym
She likes getting outside to get that vitamin D, fresh air, and exercise. "I am not a big gym person," Ratajkowski said. "I really like being outside and doing yoga, so I do a lot of hiking in L.A. and I have a yoga studio really close to my house that I go to like once a week." As for yoga, “studies have shown that it can actually help our heart rate variability, which is the recovery rate and the resilience of our heart in the ups and downs of everyday life,” says certified yoga therapist, Judi Bar, to the Cleveland Clinic. “We're focusing on what we're doing, for instance, focusing on a balancing pose. It helps to calm that nervous system which generally will help that blood pressure, at least slightly.”
2. She Gives Herself The Chance to Indulge
"Every day I go to Blacktop Coffee and get this pastry called kouign-amann with my black coffee," Ratajkowski said to BAZAAR. Sometimes, depriving yourself can create more of a craving than just indulging every so often and letting yourself be human. She also enjoys splurging on a cocktail, bowl of popcorn and handful of candy on occasion.
3. She Enjoys Veggie-Packed Meals

Emily will often pair an already healthy meal with a fresh squeezed green juice to add even more vegetables and spices to her meals for health benefits. "For me, it's about feeling good about what you eat," she said. "I do love turmeric and beet juices. It's so L.A., you can't avoid it." According to the Mayo Clinic, "turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory compounds called curcuminoids, and these curcuminoids have been associated with a positive effect on various diseases," says Anya Guy, a Mayo Clinic dietitian. "Although curcumin or turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, if you are diagnosed with a condition such as cancer or diabetes, speak to your health care provider before taking the supplement," Guy said.
4. She Enjoys Having Control Through Cooking

"I'm a carnivore. I really like to eat meat. I crave iron," she told ELLE US. "I cook a lot, so that really helps," she said. "You know how much salt and sugar and all of that kind of stuff you are putting in your body." Cooking gives Emily the control to balance various ingredients, staying on top of exactly what she’s eating.
5. She Enjoys Fitness Classes

“I am also someone who, even in a class, will get chatty and [distracted],” admits Emily. “I think that’s the great thing about STRONG — the music keeps me really focused and in the zone,” she continues about her fitness class workouts. “You just feel like you're, you know, Superwoman really pushing herself. You end up working harder and it's a better, more intense workout, without even noticing.” With workouts like STRONG or Zumba, "You not only get aerobic benefits (it really gets your heart rate up), you also get anaerobic benefits – the kind that help you maintain a good cardiovascular respiratory system," says Piedmont Health. "Turning your attention to dance, and away from the daily grind, is a great way to relieve stress.
