She Prefers Outdoor Exercise Over Gyms
"I don't have a trainer, and I don't really go to the gym. I go on long walks and hikes with my girlfriends. That's about it. I'm just not a crazy fitness person. I'm definitely an outlier in the industry," Emily told The New York Times. "And doing yoga a couple of times a week is a really big part of my regimen."
She Focuses On Being Herself
"I think the biggest obstacle of my career has been transitioning and doing things that people didn't really expect," Emily told Harper's Bazaar. "But I think you just have to forge ahead and do what you're going to do and be who you are."
She Prioritizes Self-Care
Emily puts priority on self-care. One way she relaxes? Exercising at night. "For me, the way I sleep afterwards is one of the main reasons to work out. I am always on my phone working and I think that's affected my sleep. I'm also really light-sensitive. When I work out, it's better than taking a melatonin. Because my body has worked hard, my brain finally rests and I think that is so valuable in this day and age — not to sound like an old geezer, but truly I feel that way," she told InStyle. She is also big into baths, regularly sharing photos of her soaks on Instagram.
She Walks Her Dog
Emily is the proud owner of a Husky mix, who she regularly walks in New York City. "I still can't believe that he went from 13 lbs at 8 weeks old to approx 80 lbs in one quick year," Emily wrote, commemorating her pooch on his birthday in 2020. "He's still the snuggliest though! He makes us the happiest and I'm going to take this opportunity to post a sh*t ton of pics of him 'cause you know what? We all could use some puppy pics right about now. Hbd Colombo ILYSM."
She Takes Workout Classes
"I'm one of those people who, if I go to the gym by myself, there's a 50/50 chance of me actually working out and really pushing myself, so the class environment works really, really well for me," Emily told InStyle. "I am also someone who, even in a class, will get chatty and [distracted]. I think that's the great thing about STRONG — the music keeps me really focused and in the zone," she continues. "You just feel like you're, you know, Superwoman really pushing herself. You end up working harder and it's a better, more intense workout, without even noticing."
