1. Keep Your Diet “Balanced”

Moderation is key when it comes to Emily’s diet. "I like to keep it really balanced to give my body energy and also be healthy," she told Harper's Bazaar. She likes to star her morning with black coffee and a pasty, followed by a light lunch, “usually a salad or a sandwich,” she revealed. “If I'm on set, I'll have catering, but I'm well behaved with that stuff. It's easy to go crazy—they know how to feed you." She does have a favorite meal. "Dinner is my time to be social and catch up with people," she said. "I love this Italian restaurant downtown called Bestia. It's kind of fun, and they have good cocktails and wine."

2. Eat Meat

While a lot of celebrities swear by a plant-based diet, Emily feasts on animals. "I'm a carnivore. I really like to eat meat. I crave iron," she told Elle. Try gradd-fed beef. Because they wander around in fields eating things like flax and purslane, grass-fed cows yield meat that contains about 4 times more omega-3s than grain-fed animals.

3. Prepare Your Own Meals

If you want to ensure that your meals are healthy, Emily suggests spending time in the kitchen. "I cook a lot, so that really helps," she said. "You know how much salt and sugar and all of that kind of stuff you are putting in your body."

4. Maintain an Active Lifestyle

"I am not a big gym person," Emily confessed to InStyle. "I don't have a trainer…I'm just not a crazy fitness person. I'm definitely an outlier in the industry," she added to the New York Times. She prefers staying active outdoors and also doing yoga to stay in shape. "I really like being outside and doing yoga, so I do a lot of hiking in L.A. and I have a yoga studio really close to my house that I go to like once a week,” she told InStyle.

5. Drink Juice

Emily is all about juicing. "For me, it's about feeling good about what you eat," she told the New York Times. "I do love turmeric and beet juices. It's so L.A., you can't avoid it." "Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years to help treat inflammatory and bacterial related ailments, including irritable bowel syndrome and arthritis," says our sister site Eat This, Not That!. "Recent research has shown that many of these turmeric benefits are associated with the compound curcumin, as noted in the journal Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects. Turmeric is a great source of curcumin, as it contains about 3 percent of it by weight, as noted by the journal Nutrition and Cancer."
