Tennis pro Genie Bouchard celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. But instead of going to a pub or a parade, she headed for the sand and surf. Bouchard posted a new photo on Instagram of herself spending time at the beach. She wore a green bathing suit, which complimented her blonde hair and pale skin nicely. 1. She Gets Enough Sleep
Being a professional athlete, Bouchard has to stay in shape, and do things that keep herself healthy. This includes getting enough sleep. Bouchard told SELF that she prioritizes getting enough sleep each night. “Even sleep is part of my job because I need a certain number of hours of sleep to be able to train at the intensity that I do,” Bouchard says. “I’m constantly working to keep my body in the best possible shape.”
2. She Cooks Healthy Breakfasts For Herself

With her busy schedule, she doesn’t always have time to make meals. However, she tells SELF that she does occasionally make breakfast for herself. Bouchard naturally cooks healthy breakfasts, as she needs the nutrients to keep her body prepped for a tennis match. “On the rare occasion that I do cook, I make myself breakfast. Eggs are my go-to in the morning for some protein. Orange juice as well. You have to start your day off with that.”
3. She Carries Healthy Snacks Around

Bouchard tells SELF that she always aims to eat healthy, even when it comes to her snacks. She says that she always has some healthy snacks on hand throughout her day. “I always have my energy bars and energy gels [on hand]. And bananas, definitely. All tennis players eat like five bananas a day.”
4. She Trains Six Days A Week

Being a professional athlete, Bouchard naturally has to work out on a regular basis. She says to Best Health Magazine that her training schedule is pretty intense, as she works out six days a week. She also says that she makes time for therapy and rest, especially when she’s dealing with injuries. “I train six days a week. Three to four hours of tennis a day, and probably about two hours in the gym. On top of that, I need to do my recovery physio, massage so it’s full, full working days.”
5. She Stays Motivated

Before Bouchard goes into a match, she naturally has to get motivated and amped up. She tells Best Health Magazine that she has rituals that she does before a match. “Just before the match, I’ll run in the hallway or in the gym. I want to make sure I’m sweating so I feel warm enough to be out there,’ she says. Bouchard also says that she likes to listen to music beforehand,“It gets me motivated to move.”
