She Grew Up Athletic

"Being an athlete was such a big part of me being proud of myself and my skin," Hadid told ELLE. "My coaches didn't care about how I looked, they cared about me because I was a good teammate, a good friend, and those were the things that helped me feel strong." Indeed she wasn't always a model. "I stopped because I was a really competitive horseback rider and a club volleyball player," she said. "I went to Junior Olympic qualifiers for volleyball. So, I kind of stopped modeling. I just wanted to have a normal childhood and go to high school," she said, according to Vanity Fair.

This is Her Easy Go-Go

"At home I love scrambled eggs and toast; it's just an easy go-to," Hadid told Harper's Bazaar. "Eggs are a complete protein meaning they contain all the amino acids the body needs to build and repair body tissues," Jamie Feit, MS, RD and expert at Testing.com, tells our sister site Eat This, Not That!. "Eggs contain fat-soluble vitamins, B vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants." ETNT! adds: "Protein feeds the muscles you are trying to build from your workout routine, which in return creates a faster metabolism and helps you lose weight, according to a study published by the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism. The amino acids in the egg can help provide your body with the protein it needs to build that muscle you desire!"

She's Been Really Into Boxing

"When I walk in [to Gotham Gym], it's like my big brothers. They don't care about me as a model or what my body looks like. They care that I give a good punch, and that's how I want to be judged in my athletic space, because that's what I find pride in," Hadid said to Vogue. "I need to have a sport that wakes me up and that I can get better at, and boxing does that for me," Hadid said.

She Takes a Holistic Approach to Wellness

"For me, I celebrate strength, not only the physical but mental and social," Hadid said at a Reebok event once. "You have to nourish all parts of yourself." Consider integrative care for yourself. "Integrative medicine can help people with cancer, persistent pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and many other conditions better manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life by reducing fatigue, pain and anxiety," says the Mayo Clinic. "Examples of common practices include:

  • Acupuncture
  • Animal-assisted therapy
  • Aromatherapy
  • Dietary supplements
  • Massage therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Meditation"

"My biggest thing is just eat healthy and work out," Hadid has said, according to Popsugar. "Yeah, I think the biggest thing I always say is eat clean to stay fit, and then have a cheat day to stay sane."
