Ginger Zee is a meteorologist on Good Morning America. She was a finalist on the 22nd season of Dancing with the Stars. She's an author. And recently, she is on a mission to help save the manatees. Zee has been sharing highlights from the trip on Instagram. In a video, she sat on a boat in the ocean. She Sticks Up For Herself

Zee isn't afraid of standing up for herself. She calls out a lot of haters on social media. After someone on Twitter diminished her career, she hit back in this Tweet. "I only comment back to you a second time in case others need the education," Zee writes. "Women can be scientists AND look good in a skirt. I happen to be one of those women. Don't project your anger and frustration on others without knowing the facts."

She Has Support

Zee is open about her struggles with anorexia and body image. She tells People that her stepfather helped her overcome these struggles. "My stepfather is a saint. He came into our lives and he taught me about nutrition and self-love, and once I started to learn about taking calories in and working calories off, then I got obsessed with working out," she said. "Everybody goes through those stages. He helped me get out of that moment in my life."

She Walks Her Dogs

Zee owns two dogs, naturally she has to take them both on walks. She opened up about this in this Instagram video. Zee captioned it, "It takes me ten minutes to tie my shoes because these dogs are so pumped about a walk. Can't take them both so it's always a 'pick me' time that cracks me up. Thought I would share. Have a great weekend everyone!"

She Raises Awareness

Zee is open about her struggles with mental health, including a brush with suicide. She told GMA that she wanted to do this to help raise awareness and break the stigma of mental healt. "I hope that me talking about it can help distinguish for people that just because you look bright and sunny does not mean that that is what's happening on the inside," she said. "All of us are complex human beings. We are also allowed to have a really big smile one day and a non-smile the next day."

She Gets Skincare Help

In a segment on GMA, Zee revealed that she was diagnosed with melasma after having her first child. She says that she sought help from a dermatologist, and shared some of her secrets. "The day I looked in the mirror and saw a mask over my face, that was the day I said, 'enough is enough,'" she starts. "My skin was brown in patches and bright white in others. It looked much different than it had before I had the baby. One day I saw that Dr. Whitney Bowe was on our show and I got her contact from producers and made an appointment. In doing research about the skin disorder I thought I had, I found many links leading me to laser treatment. But that scared me. Dr. Bowe took me in and was so gentle with her description. I have melasma. A discoloration of the skin thanks to a shift in hormones. Many times women get it during or after pregnancy, but any hormonal shift, including birth control pills, can bring it on."
