Heather Rae Young is reveling over the difference a day can make. “Hard to believe less than 24 hours ago I was soaking in the sun by the water in Cabo, and now I’m laying in bed recovering from vocal chord [sic] surgery,” she writes in her latest Instagram post, alongside a south of the border snap of herself in a swimsuit. “Grateful to have such good doctors, amazing husband taking care of me, and all of my sweet friends for sending me flowers!! I appreciate all of the love from all of you during this time. It was a long time coming for me as I’ve been battling vocal stress for years. After resting for 3 months I was never going to be 100% so surgery was my only route. Some may have noticed the my voice issues when watching #Sellingsunset and #flipping101 but on the road to recovery.” What other ways does she manage her health? Read on to see 5 of Heather Rae Young’s top tips for staying in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Maintain an Active Lifestyle

Heather has been outdoorsy since she was a kid. “I had a national forest as my backyard. How many people can say that? I would hike down to the creek and swim, go sledding in the winter, and I had a handful of ski resorts to choose from. It might sound dorky, but I love skiing,” she told Super Street.

2. Get “Into” Fitness

Heather doesn’t have to force herself to exercise. She actually enjoys it. “I'm really into fitness and running—I love kickboxing and dancing,” she told Super Street. “For big health benefits, aim for these numbers: 2.5 to 5 hours of moderate aerobic activity, or 75-150 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity every week. Want to do more than that? You'll get more health benefits. Try to spread this activity throughout the week,” says the Mayo Clinic.

3. Work Out Daily

Heather makes sure to move on a daily basis. “Fitness makes me so happy,” she added to Women Fitness. “I never look at it like….ugh I have to workout today. I get excited to do it. Right now I do a strength training HIIT class 3-4 times a week. And on the days in between I run 3-4 miles.”

4. Food Prep and Plan Ahead

Vegetarian,Healthy,Meal,Prep,Containers,.,Raw,Vegetables,And,QuinoaShutterstock

Heather sets herself up for dietary success by bringing her own food with her. “I always pack my own food since I am vegan and I always workout no matter what,” she told Women Fitness.

She also loves protein smoothies. “Lunch is usually quinoa salad or veggie salad. I snack in between on nuts or a vegan protein bar (which has little ingredients) And I drink tea in between meals. No coffee, I actually have never tried a cup. I do have a sweet tooth though, so I choose to not even have sugar because once I start i can’t stop.”

5. Take Supplements

Critics' Choice Real TV Awards - ArrivalsJC Olivera/WireImage

Heather is one of the many stars who uses supplements alongside a healthy diet. “I take fish oil and vitamins daily,” she told Women Health. “Omega-3 fatty acids are derived from food. They can't be manufactured in the body. Fish oil contains two omega-3s called docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Dietary sources of DHA and EPA are fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel and trout, and shellfish, such as mussels, oysters and crabs. Some nuts, seeds and vegetable oils contain another omega-3 called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA),” says the Mayo Clinic.

Samantha Hanratty, best known as teen Misty on the Showtime smash series Yellowjackets, is nearly unrecognizable in real life. Gone is the blond, curly wig and glasses, dorky clothes and the disease to please, embodied by her rather unstable character. Instead, she’s got straight hair, a confident gaze and a fit figure. It’s a testament to her performance, and the transformation is evident in her latest post, a swimsuit photo. “First beach day of the new year,” she captioned it. How does Hanratty, 26, stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Samantha Hanratty stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She’s a Vegan

Hanratty is a vegan in real life. “We would be on set, I would be eating the ‘meat’”—on the show, about a group of teenage plane crash survivors, the characters eat deer and…possibly one another—“and then would get back to my trailer and then there would be a Beyond Meat sandwich and that was like every day for five months,” she told Page Six. How can you keep vegan? “Vegan diets exclude meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy products — and foods that contain these products,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Choose a variety of healthy plant-based foods, such as whole fruits and vegetables, legumes and nuts, and whole grains. At the same time, cut back on less healthy choices, such as sugar-sweetened beverages, fruit juices and refined grains.”

2. She Says She Would Not Be Able to Survive Two Weeks in the Woods

Hanratty said she wouldn’t last long in the woods. “I’m vegan and allergic to everything, so I’m already at a major disadvantage,” she told Page Six. “If I had a foraging book I think I would be OK. I could live…I think I could survive two weeks, but I would not be happy. I would have lost my…marbles. I definitely would come back being not OK, not OK in the slightest.” She added: “I seriously feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be a part of this show and playing this amazing character,” Hanratty has said.

3. She Always Wanted the Spotlight

Vulture Festival 2021David Livingston/Getty Images

“I just knew I wanted to entertain,” she told Christina Ricci, who plays the older Misty, in a conversation in Interview. “I’m the youngest of five girls and I probably wanted the spotlight, but I told my parents, ‘I want to be on TV like Shirley Temple,’ and my mom finally gave in when I turned six. I kept begging and then she finally sent my picture to an agency and they called the next week. I had an audition for a commercial and booked it, and it just was meant to be. My mom is still waiting for me to leave it behind. She supports me, but she also says, ‘Whenever you want to stop, go ahead and stop.’”

4. She Saw a Therapist While Shooting

Premiere Of Showtime's "Yellowjackets"Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images

“I don’t think we’ve talked about this, but I was seeing a therapist while I was in Canada, and that was something that we discussed. I was definitely treated differently when I was in hair and makeup and wardrobe,” she told Ricci in Interview. “I got more self-conscious, and my walk even changed a bit. I just felt like a bigger target, you know, as a person.” If you’re considering therapy, ask yourself a few queations first. “Are you looking for individual, relationship or family therapy?” Dawn Potter, PsyD, says to the Cleveland Clinic. “You need to consider if you’re looking for treatment for a specific problem that requires a specialist,” she continues. “Maybe you’re just looking for general growth. That decision will also determine what kind of therapist and what qualifications you’re looking for.”

5. She Has Streamed Her Workouts

Hanratty has streamed herself on Twitch working out. In one video, she’s got a simple yoga mat and some free weights, and does exercises that work her core, back and upper body. (It was part of a fundraiser.) “You can do core-strength exercises on a carpeted floor or mat. Breathe freely and deeply during each core-strength exercise. Focus on tightening your transversus abdominis, the deepest abdominal muscle and the one you feel contracting when you cough, says the Mayo Clinic. Want to hear about how her teammates stay fit? Lisa Hochstein, one of The Real Housewives of Miami, just posed a swimsuit photo, looking over a railing onto crystal clear blue waters, and the response was fitting. “Hottie,” commented Real Housewife Alexia Nepola. 1. She Eats Well

Healthy,Organic,Baked,Brussel,Sprouts,With,PancettaShutterstock

"So many people ask me how I keep myself in such good shape," Lisa has said. "But working out and eating good is really it ... and a lot of people don’t understand that.” “Pile on the veggies! Not only does it fill your plate up quickly, but it also provides a ton of nutrients. Plus, they're low in calories. Salad greens are easy, but you could also add roasted vegetables like Brussels sprouts, broccoli, green beans, squash, carrots, and more,” says our sister site Eat This, Not That!

2. She Has Said She Works Out at Least Four Days a Week

26th Annual Miami Make-A-Wish BallJose Devillegas/Getty Images

“Work your way up to 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, or an equivalent mix of the two each week. Strong scientific evidence shows that physical activity can help you maintain your weight over time. However, the exact amount of physical activity needed to do this is not clear since it varies greatly from person to person. It’s possible that you may need to do more than the equivalent of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity a week to maintain your weight,” says the CDC.

3. She Has Had Plastic Surgery

Smile Train Spring FlingJohn Parra/Getty Images

While it’s not for everyone, Lisa has had plastic surgery, and is married to Dr. Leonard Hochstein, a plastic surgeon in Florida. (Or was; his has said he has filed for divorce.) "I want to remove the stigma, because everything thinks I've had head-to-toe plastic surgery and that's not the case at all," she says. "I had a breast augmentation that my husband did correct, and I actually had to convince him to do it. And I had a rhinoplasty, which was so minor my friends didn't even notice. It was something I didn't like about myself. I feel like if you're not hurting anyone, why shouldn't you change it?"

4. She Got a New Smile

"Ambulance" Miami Special ScreeningAaron Davidson/Getty Images

Lisa went to Michael Apa, an Aesthetic Dentist, for dental work, to reconstruct her smile. "Now I can't stop smiling," she wrote. "Absolutely love my new and improved smile." “Dental bonding, sometimes called composite bonding or teeth bonding, is a cosmetic dentistry treatment used to enhance your smile. During the procedure, your dentist applies tooth-colored resin material to the affected teeth to change their shape, size or color,” says the Cleveland Clinic.

5. She Says Use Caution When Using Fillers

Smile Train Spring FlingJohn Paras/Getty Images

She once admitted she had overdone it with the fillers. She "removed maybe 60 percent of the filler," explaining, "I definitely overdid it." "I feel like I'm...looking more like myself," she added. "And that's great." “Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes,” says the Mayo Clinic.

Rose Ayling-Ellis, the EastEnders star and winner of 2021’s Strictly Come Dancing (not to mention its first deaf contestant), knows how to relax. She and a group of TV personality pals— Sara Davies, John Whaite, Rhys Stephenson, Maisie Smith and Tilly Ramsay—visited the luxury Skuna Boats at West India Quay dock in London, and documented their time on Instagram—”on the hot tub boat,” as they captioned one image. How does she stay so together? Read on to see 5 ways Rose Ayling-Ellis stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Hits the Spa

roseRose Ayling-Ellis/Instagram

The spa boat is not the first time Ayling-Ellis has been pampered. "Just what I needed," she captioned another post after winning Strictly, at a spa. Consider getting a massage yourself. “Massage is generally considered part of integrative medicine,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Medical centers are offering it more and more as a treatment along with standard treatment. It may be used for a wide range of medical conditions.

Studies of massage benefits have found massage can:

  • Help reduce stress
  • Lessen pain and muscle tension
  • Increase relaxation
  • Improve immune function.”

2. She Has Weight Trained, Sort Of

Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour - BackstageRose Ayling-Ellis/Instagram

In order to stay in shape for Strictly, Ayling-Ellis had to exercise. "Pre-show warm-up is very important," wrote one of the show’s producers, sharing an image of her dance partner, Giovanni Pernice, holding her up high. "Even our weights are glamorous," he joked. "I'm just a human weight,” Ayling-Ellis added, when reporting the image.

3. Her Dancing Was Cardio

National Television Awards 2021 - Red Carpet ArrivalsKarwai Tang/WireImage

“It’s a lot of jumping off the ground, I’m going to be so out of breath!” she told the Guardian about Strictly. High intensity workouts like that are great for you. Rapid-fire workouts supercharge your body in countless ways. Unlike doing “steady-state” cardio, in which you head out for a leisurely jog or casually climb a Stairmaster, high-intense workouts ignite your body’s stress response. Everything from your blood pressure to your heart rate spikes. Your immune system and central nervous system kick into high gear. You start inhaling more and more oxygen to spread to your cells. Blood starts flowing to your muscles and your body instantly start burning up all of that glucose in your blood—meaning you’ll stave off weight-gain and bring your endocrine system back into the balance. Physically speaking, it’s the closest thing you can do to running into a phone booth and emerging afterwards with a cape and giant “S” on your chest.

4. She May Have Been Able to Feel the Music

“How is it possible that a person who is deaf can dance to music they can’t actually hear? To learn how to dance, the brain views the actions of others moving to music and combines this with careful counting,” write researchers Helen E. Nuttall and Kate Slade about Ayling-Ellis. “Many people without hearing loss also do this when learning a dance – the steps are taught to beats or counts, which are then practised before being put to music. For someone with hearing loss, while the appreciation of the music differs, the learning through observation and counting is similar. In addition, the tactile information provided through music is very helpful for people with hearing loss. Instead of listening to music, a person who is deaf may feel the music, literally sensing the vibrations through their body.”

5. The Pandemic Has Been Hard

Prevent,Coronavirus.,Medical,Mask,,Medical,Protective,Mask,Isolated,On,BlueShutterstock

Ayling-Ellis is used to reading lips. Now: "Everyone is wearing masks, everyone is social distanced. So, before people wouldn't wear their masks and they would come up close to me so I can see their face and lip read. But now everyone is wearing masks and staying well away, so I can't understand everyone. So it's quite hard.” During filming of Strictly, “luckily everyone here is very, very nice, and they adapt to what I need. I have an interpreter with me at all times, so they translate anything. But sometimes when she's not there, the cast take their masks off and keep their distance from me….And now they're picking up signing and learning some bits. They're becoming a bit more dextrous, more expression. And that's really, really helped a lot. Everyone is really nice and opened minded and trying their hardest. It helps a lot.”

1. She Went Under the Knife

Angela has reportedly lost over 100 pounds after undergoing five plastic surgery procedures in August 2020. "I noticed when I went to Nigeria last time, I was just putting on weight," she told Us Weekly. "I mean, like, I think I gained 20, almost 25 lbs. And it just hit me all at once. I couldn't even walk in the grocery store with the kids to get groceries. I was out of breath," she said, adding that she "really thought that [she] would die" if she didn't lose the weight. "There's benefits behind doing it for myself because it also benefits the grandkids being around me longer and [Michael] and I being together longer. I did it for myself to stay alive … and [to] benefit the ones I love."

2. She Used to Ride Horses

During Josh Adams’ YouTube series CRACKED, Angela revealed that she suffered chronic back pain. “I used to ride horses,” she said. “I’ve been kicked off, bucked off. I’ve kicked a few doors in….And I’ve had two babies that’s affected, the epidurals affected my lower back.”

4. She Takes Supplements

Angela takes supplements in the form of gummies, maintaining they “are not only DELICIOUS, but they’re packed with antioxidants that help to detoxify which is that extra step we all need! Adding these into my daily routine has been my best decision yet,” she said in this post.

5. She Works Out

While Angela has yet to share about her workout routine, the star reportedly exercises with personal trainer-to-the-stars Natasha Fett, who also helped Mama June of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, get into shape.

Chanelle Hayes, the Big Brother star and socialite, has been open about her journey with her body, specifically when it comes to losing weight. She just showed off her impressive weight loss in a recent Instagram post. In the photo, Hayes combined a series of shots of her wearing a bathing suit over the years. In each photo, her body looks different, and she accompanied the post with the words, “Bodies change, it’s normal.” Hayes captioned the post, “Before and after.” Read on to see 5 ways Chanelle Hayes stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Doesn’t Weigh Herself

While Hayes is living a healthy lifestyle, weight loss is not necessarily her main goal. She tells Closer Online that she doesn’t own a scale or weigh herself when she’s doing different things. She says that this helps her stay focused on being healthy. “I don’t weigh myself now because I’m working out, so I know I’m putting on muscle, which weighs more,” she explains.

2. She Believes In Balance

Hayes is all about living a healthy lifestyle, and that doesn’t include restricting diets and plans. She tells Closer Online that she believes in a balanced diet, and that this mindset has helped her stay healthy. "I’ve done every diet under the sun but, this time, it hasn’t been about following an army regime where I’m starving myself to become skinny overnight. I wanted to have long-lasting results, so it’s been more about changing my mindset towards food and having a balanced way of living – even if that takes longer to initially shift the weight. I’m thrilled with the results. I’m healthy but I’m not missing out on enjoying parties, or stopping myself from having treats when I want to."

3. She’s Consistent With Her Workouts

While Hayes doesn’t believe in restricting herself when it comes to food, she does try to avoid binge eating. She says that one of the ways she does this is by consistently working out. “I’m one of those people who eats everything if they’re not training. When I don’t go to the gym, it’s like a free pass for me to binge,” she says to Closer Online.

4. She Got Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Hayes received gastric surgery in 2020 after gaining weight. She says to The Sun that the procedure has helped her eat better and live a healthier life. “I feel satiated and full after such small amounts now I never feel like I’m missing out because that gnawing hunger of being on a diet isn’t there," she explained.

5. She Got Hair Transplant Surgery

Hayes is open about the procedures that she has had done, including hair transplant surgery. She writes on Instagram that she got this done to help with her self-confidence, and to reduce the stigma on cosmetic surgery. “It’s so taboo for some reason for females to discuss hair loss and so I wanted to be clear, open and transparent about the whole thing,” she wrote. “Would I love to have a long, thick head of shiny hair naturally? Yes, but I don’t. So I am working with what I have. And getting a FUT method hair transplant was the first step to looking feminine, becoming more confident and gaining back some of my lost self esteem that ran away with my hair!”

Over the past few years, Sydney Sweeney has become one of America’s sweethearts with celebrated roles in everything from hit HBO shows Euphoria and White Lotus to big-screen movies Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Anyone But You. In addition to her impressive acting ability, the star is a total bombshell and has one of the fittest figures in Hollywood. Here are the top 5 habits that help her stay fit at 27.

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones

This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Improving your sense of balance

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
