She Eats Plenty of Fish
Justice tries to stick to a pescatarian diet, and finds it helps manage symptoms of Hashimoto's disease—but she still eats other types of meat on special occasions. "The pescatarian diet is widely accepted as being a nutritious choice due to the known benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle, coupled with high-protein, lean white fish and omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish including salmon, mackerel, herring and fresh tuna," says registered dietitian Emer Delaney. "This style of eating has shown a reduced risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity, all of which are risk factors for heart disease. In addition, a 2016 study showed that omega-3 fatty acids were associated with a lower risk of fatal heart attacks."
She Loves to Dance
Justice enjoys incorporating dance into her workouts. "I love taking classes to switch it up, so I'll do a dancing class or a twerk class…. It's actually a really great workout," she says. "After 10 minutes of twerking, your thighs and your butt feel it right away. But it's so much fun. You feel free. It's like, 'Who cares? I'm twerking!'"
She Meditates
Justice makes time for herself every day to meditate and enjoy some quiet moments. "I try to meditate every day," she says. "It's important to take that time, even if it's just 10 minutes, to block everything out and get grounded again. And I love to lie on my hammock and read things that are inspirational and motivational, whether it's a self-help book or an autobiography."
She Loves Hot Yoga
Justice enjoys yoga sessions—especially hot yoga. "Well my sister has gotten me into hot yoga," she says. "So yeah it's tough. It was really not my thing in the beginning. And I still am in the classes sometimes and I'm like, 'Why am I doing this? Why am I here right now?' But it's… You always leave feeling better. But yesterday we did a class and I had to step out 'cause I was just… I was that one person that was like, Nope, can't take it. But when it's over, you always feel like, Oh, your muscles, they're relaxed and it's so good."
She Takes Supplements
Justice likes to round out her diet with supplements. "I'm all about the supplements. I take fish oil every single day, as well as vitamin D, magnesium, B complex, vitamin C," she says. "I drink lots of water, and I've been trying to do daily wheatgrass shots, but they're awful and I have to plug my nose. We also have this shake in my house that we pretty much have every morning. It's made of rice milk, bananas, Udo's oil and protein powder. I've been drinking it ever since I was little."
