Here’s what her diet looks like.

1

She Avoids Alcohol

Hyoyeon avoids alcohol because of the effect it has on her weight. "I have never been fond of snacks," she says. "Sweets, ice cream, chicken… I don't really eat them. But I gained weight when I drank alcohol."

2

Intermittent Fasting

Hyoyeon prefers intermittent fasting to dieting. "[Actress] Seohyun did intermittent fasting and it worked, so I was inspired to try out the same thing," she says. "That kind of diet fits me perfectly, keeping an empty stomach for 16 hours and then eating in the remaining hours. I guess my body is used to it now. I eat all sorts of hamburgers and pizza, and am perfectly adapted to it. I want to compliment myself and am proud of my body. It's pretty easy, you just stop eating from 6 pm to 10 am the next day."

3

Shellfish Festivals

Hyoyeon loves shellfish, which are a great source of protein, healthy fats, and nutrients. "I go to regional festivals in order to eat food that's in season," she says. "I like jumbo shrimp, so I like to go to Sorae Port or Yeonan Pier. I like oysters, so I've gone to Tongyeong before too."

4

She Plays Golf

Hyoyeon enjoys playing golf. "We know that the moderate physical activity that golf provides increases life expectancy, has mental health benefits, and can help prevent and treat more than 40 major chronic diseases such as heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, breast and colon cancer," says Dr Andrew Murray from the University of Edinburgh. "Evidence suggests golfers live longer than non-golfers, enjoying improvements in cholesterol levels, body composition, wellness, self-esteem and self-worth. Given that the sport can be played by the very young to the very old, this demonstrates a wide variety of health benefits for people of all ages.

5

Variety Of Workouts

Hyoyeon works out every day. "I do stretching, ab and muscle training exercises every day and I tend to do several varieties of exercises," she says. "I enjoy outdoor exercises like golf, swimming and scuba diving more than exercises at the gym. I try to play tennis at least once a week. Tennis is really a total body exercise. Also, if you look at the amount of exercise, there is no exercise as high in exertion as dance."
