Thomas refuses to follow restrictive diets, instead focusing on her health. “I never count calories,” she says. “I’ve tried every diet but they don’t work. As soon as you come off it the weight piles back on. My approach now is to eat little but often.”
2. Gym and Yoga

Thomas goes to the gym four to five times a week, and also does Bikram yoga sessions. “The U.S. military, the National Institutes of Health and other large organizations are listening to — and incorporating — scientific validation of yoga’s value in health care,” says Johns Hopkins Medicine. “Numerous studies show yoga’s benefits in arthritis, osteopenia, balance issues, oncology, women’s health, chronic pain and other specialties.”
3. Working On Balance

Thomas has struggled with using food as a comfort mechanism. “As I get older, I need to have a more balanced and healthier relationship with food,” she says. “You'd think I'd know better with my degree in health studies but for me, and many others, food is a comforter and fuel rather than an enjoyable experience. The last couple of years have been very stressful which has had an impact on my eating habits and it's difficult to get out of that routine.”
4. Treadmill Sessions

Thomas uses the treadmill as part of her workout routine. "Many dedicated long-term runners do not run because they want to live longer," says cardiologist Dr. Aaron Baggish. "They run because it makes them feel better on a daily basis. There is a mood elevating, quality-of-life benefit that comes from being a regular exerciser."
5. Maintaining Her Skin
Thomas is diligent about skincare and hair maintenance. “I always use good products,” she says. “I’ve been obsessed with my skincare since I was 14 years old. I use elemis every day, cleanse, tone and exfoliate. I moisturize twice a day too. For my hair I use bed head products. I’ve always had thick hair, I’ve been really lucky.”
